In honor of International Women’s Day, we’d like to give recognition to ✨Hedy Lamarr✨
Hedy Lamarr: Actress, Icon, and Inventor.
Born in Austria in 1914, Hedy Lamarr was more than just a Hollywood star. Despite her beauty captivating audiences, she possessed an inventive genius often overlooked. Inspired by her father’s discussions on machinery and her own curiosity, Lamarr’s brilliance shone through at a young age.
Escaping a stifling marriage, Lamarr found her way to Hollywood, where she met Howard Hughes, sparking her interest in innovation. Collaborating with George Antheil during World War II, they developed frequency hopping technology, a precursor to Wi-Fi and GPS.
Though her invention went unrecognized during her lifetime, Lamarr’s legacy endures. She posthumously received awards for her pioneer work, finally earning recognition as a trailblazer in both film and technology. Hedy Lamarr: a true icon of beauty, brains, and innovation. 💪🏽
