Joel’s love and legacy continues on…

Two years ago, we had just signed our lease with Fitzy at the new shop in the Princeton Harbor. Our friends and community helped us stand up every wall, nail every nail, and hang every board rack. It was truly a labor of love for Joel and for surf.

The smell of resin was once again back in the harbor and we were stoked to see it come alive!!

Yesterday, we broke it all down and donated the entire shops’ contents to Chandler and his awesome crew . Here are a few shots of their brand new warehouse they just signed the lease on in Morro Bay / Cayucos (one of our fav spots on the CA coast).

These guys are second-generation shapers and glassers who do some incredible color work that Joel always admired. Their boards are in in SC and in SF. How appropriate. We had been watching them online and loved their work, so to have the shop go to their new factory was just absolutely the right fit.

Joel’s materials, cloth, and equipment will all be used to continue to make boards. His paints are in good hands. And his tools will continue to shape foam.

Yesterday was a gift for all of us.

If you knew Joel, you would know the he would give the shirt off his back to whomever needed it. He lived by the principles of karma and by paying it forward. Now, it all comes back around. 💫

Chandler and his crew will be glassing all outstanding orders. And we may even have a few of our standard JZ models available for stock if there is an interest.

I want to personally thank everyone who has helped us build up and break down the JZ Factory. You know who you are. ❤️

I want to thank the JZ crew for all of the good times and hard work we did at 190 Harvard — with a special thank you to for being Joel’s right hand man and keeping all of our customers happy. We made over 800 boards come to life here.

And I want to def thank Steve Fitz for being the best damn landlord. If anyone is looking for an awesome 2-story warehouse, it will be available Dec 1.

This is not the end of JZ. The hawk flies on.

We are resuming production on all outstanding custom orders. If you have a board order on file, we can complete them to Joel’s specs with local shapers.

A huge thanks to our friends and surf family over at Winters Tavern for the recent JZ addition to our neighborhood bar.

It’s EXACTLY where it belongs! 🍋

To have The Hawk flying where you could find Joel on any given Sunday afternoon or for weekly Warriors games is truly special.

To have it above Surfer Steve’s old Agent Orange skate deck is next level. (one of his fav surfer punk bands of all time)

A huge thanks to CJ, Corinne and all the crew he loved so much. We are grateful to have you guys spreading his art and good vibes. ❤️🙏

This pic of him was the first time we could be let out of Covid jail on his 48th bday. We have been witness to this bar and her awesome staff do the same small business hustle during these last 3 years as a lot of us did and still find a way to make it work.

So next time you are at Winters, go for the Pliny and raise one for JZ. 🍺
