🐴 “When will I get to trot?”
“When can I lope?”
“When can I canter?”
“When can we go faster?”

As an instructor, I hear these questions a lot.

But one thing I really want my students to understand is that progress with a horse does not always mean going faster.

Progress might be learning to lead a horse without pulling on them.
It might be finally understanding what their body language is telling you.
It might be giving a softer cue, finding better balance in the saddle, or getting a calm response on the ground.

Sometimes the moment you try to go faster is the exact moment you realize how many little steps you skipped along the way.

We live in a world that is constantly telling us to hurry, achieve the next thing, and move on.

Horses have a beautiful way of teaching us the opposite.

Slow down.
Pay attention.
Be patient.
Appreciate the small wins.

Because going faster isn't always moving forward. 💜🐴

And sometimes, slowing down is where the real progress begins.
