In Soo Bahk Do We focus our training on three areas of development in our training: These are the Shim Gung.Neh Gung, and Weh Gung,

Shim Gung training involves both your mental and spiritual Power (Energy). Shim Gung is our attitude; our discipline (our Moo Do) There are many aspects to, and a wide range of development possible, in Shim Gung.

Mental Power/Energy – is the wisdom and knowledge that is stored in our mind. The more you learn the more you have power. When your knowledge will be put into action that is releasing the power from your mind. The mind is the most powerful possession of human beings, but it needs to be trained to get the maximum out of it. The mind should be trained on how to concentrate/focus and this will be developed through meditation.

Spiritual Power/Energy- The power that enables a human being to remove the barrier of negative emotions with inner strength and calm authority and let the positivity illuminate their path in the ups and downs of life's journey is called spiritual power. this can only be done after your mind will be convicted by the belief that you can do it.

π—‘π—˜π—› π—šπ—¨π—‘π—š (π—œπ—‘π—§π—˜π—₯π—‘π—”π—Ÿ 𝗣𝗒π—ͺπ—˜π—₯)

Neh Gung training is in your breathing (Ho Hoop). Ho Hoop is very essential since it supplies oxygen to your body in your daily activities and is the basis for life. Without Ho Hoop, there is no life. Neh Gung is the factor of utmost importance in creating power. Understanding Neh Gung application in your training will help to increase your awareness of the internal world of one’s body and utilize Ki (energy) freely.

Our internal health relates to how we eat, sleep, and breathe. Training in both Moo Pahl Dan Kuhm and Moon Pahl Dan Kuhm (Standing and Sitting 8 Pieces Brocade) will improve the health of the internal organs through Ki-Kong breathing and an understanding of O-Haeng. Our internal health is closely coupled with O-Haeng, O-Ki, and the related 5 internal organs: Kidney, Liver, Heart, Lung, and Spleen. Regrettably, few Moo Do In understand the relationships of O-Haeng, but is a vital component of the training of Nae-Kong ε…§εŠŸ (sincere internal effort).

MOO PAHL DAN KHUM

The Moo Pahl Dan Khum is a set of eight deep breathing exercises that mean the following:
Moo (Military) Pahl( Eight) Dan( Level) Khum Of Value (Silk)

Daily fitness exercises are part of the Asian culture, with hundreds or thousands of variations. These exercises are called β€œKi Gung” (Energy Cultivation) in Korean and β€œChi Gung” in Chinese. These exercises are intended to gently work the bones, ligaments, and muscles, as well as the internal organs, circulatory, immune, lymphatic, and energy systems.

Moo Pahl Dan Khum is one such set of very old exercises developed to maintain health both internally and externally. They were originally based on an even older set of exercises called the Ship E Dan Khum (12 exercises). The Ship E Dan Khum was adapted by Marshal Yei, a famous Chinese military General, for his troops. They were divided into two sets, the Moo (Military) set of exercises and the Moon (Scholarly) set of exercises.

Our Founder, Kwan Jang Nim Hwang Kee, added the Moo Pahl Dan Khum exercises to Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan’s curriculum because he believed martial arts should be learned not only for self-defense but also for the mental, physical, and spiritual development.

π—ͺπ—˜π—› π—šπ—¨π—‘π—š (π—˜π—«π—§π—˜π—₯π—‘π—”π—Ÿ 𝗣𝗒π—ͺπ—˜π—₯)

The source of your energy is your Shim Gung (Mind) with your Neh Gung brings the energy to the Hips(Huri) then the Weh Gung as the hips throw the energy to your Elbow/Knee then to the Fist/Foot. This is what we called the Four connections of energy. The usage of Weh Gung in your training is the use of one’s waist (Hu Ri). One of the most important areas of emphasis in our training is the proper use of the Hu Ri in both defensive and offensive moves. The proper use of your Hu Ri will help you create energy in an efficient manner with minimum effort, and allow you to perform with maximum power and balance. The actual movement of your physical Hu Ri should be very visible.

The practice of Shim Gung, Neh Gung, and Weh Gung gives us good health and longevity. Soo Bahk Do is the vehicle to improve each of these three aspects of ourselves and that is the purpose of Soo Bahk Do.
