NEW BRAUNFELS / GRUENE — WE’RE COMING YOUR WAY. 👊

As Warrior University prepares for our upcoming expansion into the New Braunfels and Austin areas, we wanted to do what we do best:

Get outside. Train. Meet some new people. And have a damn good time doing it.

Join us Saturday, September 12 from 6:00–8:00 PM at Landa Park in New Braunfels for:

🥊 JKD IN THE PARK
Jeet Kune Do Pop-Up Event
A Warrior University Experience

Come experience Jeet Kune Do with Sifu Clay & Beverly Pratka, meet the Warrior University team and community, and get a firsthand look at what we’re building in the area.

No previous martial arts experience is necessary. Whether you’ve trained for years, you’ve been curious about what we do, or you’ve never thrown a punch in your life—you’re welcome.

Come train with us. Come meet us. Come hang out.

Warrior University events are about more than just the training. You might find something cooking on the grill, some pop-up live music, or everyone just hanging around swapping stories after we’re done.

For this one, after we wrap up at the park, we’re heading over to Gruene to enjoy the evening—and you’re invited to come with us.

Train with us for a couple of hours. Meet the team. Get to know the community. And get a taste of what the Warrior University experience is really all about.

Kim Freytag Cerny first sparring round today. To be clear this is a fitness class and sparring is not a mandatory part of it but Sifu Beverly Pratka is so good with taking care of people, making it fun and easing people into it that most people just want to do it.

YOU ALREADY HAVE A PHILOSOPHY.

The question is whether you chose it.

Long before we consciously decide what we believe, we absorb ideas from our parents, teachers, culture, successes, failures, and experiences.

Those beliefs quietly shape how we see money, relationships, success, failure, discipline, happiness—and ourselves.

Some serve us.

Some don’t.

Know Yourself means being willing to examine them.

What do I believe?

Where did that belief come from?

Is it true?

Is it useful?

Do I still choose it?

Don’t live your entire life according to a philosophy you inherited by accident.

Know Yourself.
Forge Your Path.

We’re not building fighters. We’re building capable people.

Warrior University isn’t a fight team, and you don’t have to be interested in stepping into a ring or cage to train with us.

But that doesn’t mean the people teaching you haven’t been there.

Our coaching staff has trained, tested, and competed at some of the highest levels — because we believe there’s value in learning from people who have actually put their skills under pressure.

This is Coach Jess in Nashville, Tennessee, on her way to becoming a K-1 Kickboxing U.S. National Champion. 🇺🇸🥊

You may never want to fight.

That’s perfectly fine.

But when you learn to move, strike, defend yourself, get stronger, and perform under pressure, you should be learning from people who know what those things look like when the stakes are real.

Competition isn’t our purpose.
Excellence is our standard.

Kettlebells are a staple of Warrior University training.

Our kettlebell methodology comes through Sifu Singh’s Action Strength Functional Fitness System, rooted in the traditional Hardstyle / Soviet approach to kettlebell training.

The philosophy is simple:

Form over rep count.
Mastery over variety.
Fundamentals before complexity.

At WU, we aren’t trying to create “kettlebell athletes.” The kettlebell is a tool we use to build stronger, more explosive, more capable humans.

Our bodyweight training and martial movements build the athletic foundation. Kettlebells introduce an external force that we must learn to control, stabilize, accelerate, and manipulate, developing greater strength and explosive power.

That’s also why we don’t believe in collecting endless kettlebell exercises just to keep training “interesting.”

Variety is not the same thing as progress.

If your swing, clean, press, squat, and sn**ch still need a lot of work, the answer probably isn’t another 15 exercises.

It’s better fundamentals.

Master the movement.
Increase the load.
Build the capacity.
Earn the complexity.

Because at Warrior University, kettlebells aren’t the destination.

They’re another tool for building the Warrior.

YOU MAY BE CLOSER THAN YOU THINK.

One of the hardest things about progress is that you can’t always see it.

You can train for months before something finally clicks.

Work toward a goal with little to show for it.

Fail repeatedly while quietly learning something from every attempt.

Then one lesson, one adjustment, one conversation, or one more attempt changes everything.

The breakthrough may look sudden.

It rarely is.

It’s usually the result of everything that came before it.

Don’t mistake a lack of visible results for a lack of progress.

Learn. Adapt. Keep moving.

WALK ON.

MEET THE TEAM | COACH JOE

Musician. Martial Artist. Instructor. Fitness Coach. Warrior University New Braunfels.

Coach Joe brings a unique perspective to the Warrior University coaching team, combining years of martial arts training with a lifelong passion for music.

A professional musician, Joe has spent years training with Warrior University and holds the rank of Apprentice Instructor in Jeet Kune Do & Filipino Martial Arts through the Jeet Kune Do Athletic Association under Sifu Harinder Singh Sabharwal.

That background has shaped one of Joe’s favorite areas to teach: rhythm and cadence.

Joe has a natural ability to draw connections between music and martial arts—helping students understand timing, tempo, movement, broken rhythm, and flow in ways that go beyond simply memorizing techniques.

His training also extends into the fitness side of the Warrior lifestyle. Joe is a Certified Warrior Fitness Coach and an avid practitioner of Action Strength, bringing functional strength and physical development into his approach to training.

And now Joe is taking on his next role.

After recently relocating to New Braunfels, Texas, Coach Joe will be heading up the Warrior University New Braunfels branch, bringing the Warrior University curriculum, culture, and community to a new tribe.

Whether he’s holding an instrument, teaching martial arts, building strength, or leading the next generation of Warriors, the common thread is the same:

Timing. Rhythm. Movement. Expression.

We’re proud to have Coach Joe representing Warrior University and leading our expansion into New Braunfels.
