Time to Swim

Time to Swim Offering beginning swimming lessons to children in the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon area.

03/22/2023

Hello Everyone! I have procrastinated this post for far too long.

We have thoroughly loved working with your children for the past 8 years. We have celebrated the victories of overcoming fears and learning new skills; we have loved loving on your children through the learning to swim program; and we have become better people through Time to Swim.

However, it is time to move to the next phase -- we will no longer be holding swimming lessons. My children, who have taught many of your children, have all grown up, gotten "real jobs" and started their own families. (Yes, we became grandparents this year!)

Thank you for supporting us through these past 8 years!

A special thank you to those who donated to St Jude Children's Research Hospital. Your donations in addition to the registration fees collected will allow us to donate right at $4000 to the hospital.

Your kids learning to swim will help other kids live to take swimming lessons!

Thank you!

REGISTRATION OPENS AT 8:00 AM THIS MORNING!
(You do not need a password to register.)

Here are some things to know before you register:
If you are registering more than one child, and you cannot select lessons that are at the same time or back-to-back times, please select the closest times available to complete your registration. Once registration closes, if I see any families whose lessons are not close together, I will do my best to make adjustments. I will notify such families by mid-April.

In addition, you may only register for one session/week at a time. if you are wishing to register for multiple weeks/sessions, you will need to complete one, then go back in and complete the registration form for the second session/week. (Please limit your registrations to a maximum of two weeks/sessions per child.)

If you cannot find a time that works for you, please select the Waitlist option. Then complete the registration form. Your credit card information may be collected, but you will not be charged. I will contact you if a lesson slot opens up.

If after registering, you cannot keep your registration, I will refund your registration fee (minus a $30 service charge) if I am able to fill your spot. If I am unable to fill the lesson spot, no refund will be given.

Online registration for Time to Swim Swimming Lessons 2022 starts on April 1st 2022.

Happy Spring!

Each year that we do swimming lessons, things look slightly different than the year before.

Here is what to expect for this year's lessons:

*We will be offering swimming lessons in June and July this year on a limited basis because we only have 4 instructors who are returning this summer.
*Registration preference will be given to our prior families. On April 3, If any slots are still available, we will offer those to any new families who have pre-registered. (NOTE: Prior families are any family who has had a child in our program in previous years.)
*You will select your lesson time when you register. Your card will also be charged at that time. This will guarantee your spot. And you will not have to wait for us to contact you to find out your lesson time.
* New families will not be charged when they pre-register. They will only be charged if a lesson becomes available and they accept it.
*If a new family accidentally registers as a prior family, their fees will be refunded minus an administration fee of $20.
*Registration will open on April 1 at 8:00 am. The registration link will be posted here on the TTS fb page earlier that week.
*Students will be limited to two sessions due to the limited number of lesson slots available this year.
* We are located at 127 Hollyhock Ln, Edwardsville.
*All of our lessons are private lessons; a session consists of 5 30-minute lessons each day, M-F. Lesson fees are $125/session.
*We will be taking children ages 5 and up this year.
*As in recent years, net proceeds from swimming lessons will go to St Jude Children's Research Hospital.

There's a good chance of rain tomorrow, Monday, afternoon.

Just a reminder.... We swim in the rain, we cancel if there's lightning. If we cancel, your instructor will contact you asap and then schedule a makeup lesson with you. If you don't get a call/text, your lesson is still on!

It's a rainy Friday but lessons are still on!

As we sit here under a Tornado Warning, I figured this is a good time to post about our inclement weather protocol for swimming lessons.
Here it is:
Raining, we swim.
Lightning, we don't.
Because our teaching schedule is so full, cancelling lessons creates a whole backlog of rescheduling (which often will get done on the Saturday after the session ends). So we try if at all possible to avoid cancelling lessons.
So, if it is raining, your instructor will be monitoring the weather closely. If there are storms and lightning can be seen in the area, then the instructor will call/text you to cancel the lesson for the day.
Since the weather here in Illinois shifts from hour to hour, we rarely will cancel all lessons for a day. (Just because it is storming in the morning does not mean that afternoon lessons will be canceled.) You can assume that lessons are a go until you have heard from your instructor.

Working (slowly) through sending the registration emails. We had over 190 children pre-register for 315 lesson slots with only 165 lesson slots available. (Imagine putting together a multi-level jigsaw puzzle.) :-)

Here is where we stand tonight, everyone who didn't get in should have been notified tonight. If you are one of the families who received this email, please know that we are as disappointed as you for this. Scheduling is not an easy task, ever. But we would truly love to teach every child to swim and we hate when we can't.

Nearly all charges have been processed/refunded. There are a few of you who have neither been processed, nor refunded. Those of you should have received an email explaining why.

And finally, those of you who did get in will be receiving your email notification of your lessons times/sessions. These emails have to be sent individually and we have a lot to send so they are taking quite a bit of time to send.

As I mentioned in the registration email, everyone will be notified by May 15. If you haven't heard anything at all from me by the end of the week, please reach out.

Thanks again for your patience!

Scheduling is finished (well, mostly). I have started processing payments. This will take me a couple evenings to complete. Once all payments are completed, I will send emails stating if your child got in or not and for which week(s)/time(s).

I appreciate your continued patience through the registration process! (If you receive any cancellation/confirmation emails prior to Saturday, please disregard them. They are automated through the registration platform and I forgot to turn them off.)
