its. Head Instructor third degree black belt Tammy Bauer has been training under 6th Degree Black Belt Master David Blevins since 2008. Miss Tammy decided to open her own Tae Kwon Do school so that she can share the benefits of Tae Kwon Do training with other students. Chung Do Kwan, Tae Kwon Do is more than just learning a few moves and earning a belt. Tae Kwon Do is a centuries-old martial art system that involves your whole person. The idea behind training is the connection between mind, body, and spirit. Learning perfect control, explosive power, composure under stressful situations, and dynamic leadership are just a few of the topics that are part of the learning process. The vigorous training creates a great camaraderie among the students. There is a definite structure to the curriculum so you have a good idea where the training is going. And, while the training method is authentic with very old roots, teaching methods are up to date. Tammyβs teacher, Master David Blevins, trained under Grand Master Yong Taek Chung. Grand Master Chung moved from Korea to Kansas City, MO where he began his school in a local park. Several years later Master Blevins began to train with Master Chung. His school, Blue Wave Martial Arts and fitness, is located in Lake St. Louis, MO. Master Blevinsβ students have opened several Blue Wave branches in the St. Louis surrounding areas. Miss Tammyβs students will travel to Blue Wave in Lake St. Louis for some of their belt exams.
