Fun Holiday – Old Rock Day

January 7 is Old Rock Day. The unofficial holiday encourages people to acknowledge, celebrate, and learn more about old rocks and fossils.

Summer is almost here & campers will have many opportunities to enjoy finding, learning about & creating fun projects with local rocks. One of Otter's favorite saying is "You ROCK!"

The 2026 Peoria Park District Sports & Camp Guide is now available. For In-District patrons, camp sign up starts Tuesday, January 20 at 8:30. For out of district patrons, registration starts Monday, January 26 at 8:30 am.

Welcoming Walks: Men's Hike at Sommer Farm

Connect with other men who enjoy the outdoors, hiking, and forging new connections. We'll meet at the Ancient Oaks Day Camp Building. This hike will take approximately one hour. Afterward, gather by the fire to swap stories and build camaraderie.

Forge new friendships in the great outdoors! We invite you to connect with fellow men who share your passion for hiking and nature. Our group will meet at the Ancient Oaks Day Camp building for an invigorating one-hour hike. Afterward, the conversation continues as we gather around a fire to swap stories and build camaraderie. Celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Koerner Cemetery with a guided talk of the pioneer cemetery. Tours are given throughout the time.
