GOOD news: Smolts Were Released in Reiter Pond Saturday 4/24/2021.
If not for the tireless efforts of Frank Urabeck & Hal Boynton, who knows how far the WFC could have interfered.
A HUGE Thanks to Frank Urabeck for lighting a fire under the US Fisheries dept by contacting Maria Cantwell to ensure that the US fisheries Dept came through with the approval. As a matter of fact, they came through 3 days ahead of the deadline. Once we knew that approval came, though, we knew we were in the best possible position in having the most excellent chance for approval from NMFS & NOAA.
A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO THE CLUB FOR TAKING ON THIS ENDEAVOR!
AND AN EXTRA SPECIAL THANKS to HAL & FRANK for going above and beyond the call of duty.
TO ALL of the STC members who wrote letters to NOAA and helped spearhead the effort to save viable Steelhead fisheries in the North Puget Sound region; THANK YOU!
Thank you, STC members; though we only had 25 letters from the Club, we were the catalyst for the other 775 letters from the many different fishing clubs and WDFW.
A special thanks to Puget Sound Anglers, Coastal Conservation Association, and WDFW for their efforts and cooperation to restore fishing.
Even though they are focused on other fish, we all care about protecting the fish and fishing in these waters. With that being said, we should also prepare ourselves to offer help and assistance to these other clubs if they garner us for service.
We need to stick together as sportsmen, fishermen, and conversationist to ensure fishing for future generations.
These actions and results show that multi-species fishing clubs can and do work together for a common goal!
Great job, TEAM!
