Welcome new students! We had a good first week of classes and I am thankful for the new members and the ones on the way!

Our word of the week is Self-Awareness. We will talk about what it is, why it’s important, and how it affects others. We will also tie it in as we review last weeks word, “respect.” Remember, karate begins and ends with respect and that starts with where and how you place your shoes and socks once you walk in the door and take a seat on the mat. I’m looking forward to teaching today’s techniques and reviewing last weeks. We will add them together, form a combination and see how they flow, as you build muscle memory 
and reflex skill.

Our Character Value for the week is RESPECT. Karate begins and ends with respect. Respect opens the door to endless possibilities. In class, it starts with lining your shoes up correctly, before you even step onto the mat.
On a side note…I can hardly wait to see you all in uniform and watch as you hang your first rank chain on our wall. I will explain more about that in class.

ENROLL FOR MEMBERSHIP IN LINK BELOW.

First, potential students MUST first complete a free trial class so we can determine if they are ready to begin training in our group class. Private message to receive the free trial link.

6:15 ages 10-12

Tuesday/Thursday classes will be added in July. Check back for times. Basic membership includes 2 classes a week.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to me. Student uniforms will be ordered shortly (first 10 students to enroll will receive a free uniform) and all students will begin as a white belt and work their way up. When you arrive, please take your shoes and socks off and line them up neatly beneath the window and have a seat at the back of the mat (criss-cross applesauce) until your class time. Please arrive with just enough time to prepare. If you stand outside, please keep your voices down and do not tap on the window or distract those inside. Parents, there is limited seating. Please keep voices down and do not talk with children while they are on the mat. We do NOT allow parent coaching as this is a distraction and leads to confusion at times. Your child will get it over time. Please be patient with them and with me as we get to know each other.

We teach karate as our striking art and include grappling as a form of self defense. WE ARE NOT SPORT BASED. WE DO NOT TRAIN FOR POINTS. We include strength building and conditioning drills, assertiveness training, verbal commands and command presence. Partner work will be a big part of class, especially as the kids get older. We will include different levels of intensity within the drills we perform. Everyone begins on the same page to avoid confusion of drills. We will have frequent review and pressure testing to see that the students are progressing and retaining techniques. For now, I’ve cleared my whole schedule of adults so I can focus mainly on building the children’s program. I would like to do the same with women and eventually all adults once we have enough. If you’re interested in either, please let me know, as we currently have a list forming.
