Images like this made my father rule out service in the navy or merchant marine. The Army found him at Univerity of Washington in late 1942.

But it was glimpses if the USS Texas, escorting their convoy to the UK, that brought reassurance.

Members of the Defense Attache’s Office of the Norwegian Embassy honoring Col H.D.Hansen in remeberance on 🇳🇴 liberation day. He served as the commander of the 99th Infnatry Battalion (Separate) in WWII.

In memeory of his service and their sacrifices for our freedom.
