🏈 Calling all girls — SRYA flag football needs you and we only have 14 registered! With 14 days left of registration, cancelation is an unfortunate possibility.

Girls flag football is the fastest-growing girls sport in America, and it isn't close. High school participation jumped 60% in a single year. Over 100 colleges now offer it. It debuts at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Roughly half the girls who join a high school flag team had never played a school sport before — this is a sport built for first-timers.
Here's our honest ask: we are short on girls registrations. If we don't hit the numbers we need by August 14, we may not be able to field all of our girls divisions — which means turning away the girls who have already signed up. We really don't want to make that call.
So if you've got a daughter, a niece, a neighbor who's been curious — now is the moment.

Flag Football Families,

As we close out our Spring season, I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for making it such a success. Four years ago this program only had 43 players, this spring there were 236 players and 26 teams. That is a huge accomplishment and could not have happened without the support of all of the families, coaches, refs, etc.

I would like to welcome Dwight Beemer as your new head commisioner. Dwight has a passion for this sport that will continue to inspire growth. Flag Football is growing across the country and is currently ranked as the fastest growing youth sport. Dwight brings years of coaching experience and new ideas for the league that will benefit all of our players and help to usher in this popular sport.

Personally I would like to thank all of the families that have been involved with Flag Football during my time as commissioner. Our goal was not only to grow the sport but to teach teamwork, sportmanship and fairplay. I sincerly believe our community excels in all of those areas and hopefully it continues to spread throughout youth sports.

Lastly, I encourage every parent to get involved. These programs are hard to run and take so much time and energy. From making rosters, lining fields, mowing, fundraisers, etc. a commisioner can at times feel like they are working a second full time job. Even if you can only volunteer an hour or a day, know that it helps more than you can imagine. Consider coaching, it is the most rewarding job of all.

I will still be helping Dwight as the assistant commish for the fall season but he will need a new assistant for the 2027 season. Apply now because the role will fill fast......

We are still in need of head coaches for the following groups.

Coach Needs: 9
Girls - 1 coach (10u and 12u mix)
6U coed - 1 coach
8U coed - 2 coaches
12U Boys - 4 coaches
14U Boys - 1 coach

These roles desperately need to be filled today or we will have to start looking at scaling back teams. Remember all of SRYA is volunteer run. Without parents stepping up to help we can’t get it done.

Spring Flag update- we have 230 players and 26 teams this spring. Our biggest season yet!!! Apologies to those who were not able to get registered. With field space constraints we ended up having to close registration a little earlier than planned.

There were a few players on waitlists who received offers to join teams, we are aware of the issue with accepting and we are working on it.

First practices will be March 27, there will be no activities the following week due to spring break. The season kicks into full swing with practices and games starting April 10th. All practices and games will be held at Edgewater Park.

With limited parking at this site please utilize the elementary school as overflow. There is no parking in the surrounding neighborhoods. With this volume please plan to arrive early as it will be crowded during change overs.

If you are interested in coaching please sign up at SRYA.org. We still need 11 more head coaches and assistants are always needed. Rosters should be released this coming week.

Spring Clean-up Date Set January 18, 2026 The annual SRYA Spring clean-up will take place on Saturday, March 21st. Spring Flag Update: Currently at 20 teams (only 10 coaches!!!!)
We are experiencing big numbers this spring! Due to this we have had to set limits on remaining registration spots. Don't wait another minute to sign up, these spots are filling fast. Here is what we can still accomodate:
-6U and 8U are full. (We will be combining boys and girls at both ages.
10UB- 8 spots
10UG-11 spots
12UB- 7 spots
12UG- 1 spot
14UB- 3 spots
14UG- 14 spots. (Currently only 2 registered, need minimum 16 to field this age group.

Once a group is filled we will go to a waitlist. Due to field constraints we cannot guarantee waitlisted players will be placed on a team.
