The Tarpon are starting to show up in the New Smyrna, Edgewater and Oak Hill areas.
I caught my personal best fly rod caught tarpon (30 #) last week.
I'm hoping the Bull sharks won't invade Mosquito Lagoon like they did last year and chase the Tarpon out the inlet

I was loading my fishing rods into the boat this morning and heard that familiar roar of a rocket taking off from Kennedy Space Center. I didn't see anything to the south, but saw this strange shaped rocket trail to the east. Followed by the heart shaped after trails.

Brother Bob and I fished in the Oak Hill area today. Yesterday the fish were very close-lipped, but today the trout and reds were hungry. Bob caught 3 fish on the way to our area, including a fat 25" seatrout! (His personal Best!) He caught 5 trout and 3 reds and had multiple shots at laid up reds. I even caught a few trout!
We were casting soft plastic lures which included some chartreuse Fish bytes.
All fish were released. Let'em go so they can grow!

Due to the closure of our national park during the federal shutdown, the Colors of Canaveral event on Sunday, November 9 (from 10am-4pm ) will move to Arts on Douglas , located at 123 Douglas Avenue in New Smyrna Beach.

The event site was originally planned at Seminole Rest, which is a part of the National Park Service, but that location currently is closed.

Ironically, just as artist/environmentalist Doris Leeper had a hand in getting Canaveral National Seashore established 50 years ago as a national park, she also was directly involved with the founding of Arts on Douglas in 1996, thanks to the help of benefactor Ed Harris.

Located in the historic downtown district of New Smyrna Beach, the building was originally constructed as a Ford showroom and service center in the 1920s and subsequently repurposed as a used-furniture warehouse. The facility has since been renovated into the 3,500-square-foot Arts on Douglas exhibition space that hosts 18 art exhibitions each year. It was Leeper who encouraged Harris to purchase the building for use as a downtown gallery for the arts.

Colors of Canaveral is being staged by Friends of Canaveral to help celebrate the park’s five decades while also serving as a fundraiser to support park educational programs. The event will feature an online/silent auction, a Coastal Boutique, a Plein Air art display/sale by local artists Cathy Berse, Joe Palmerio, Patrick Rausch and Ruth Squitieri -- who will be present to showcase their work - - and gift-card raffles by different vendors which may be selected by guests at one ticket for $5, or 3 tickets for $10.

Harry G. wanted to catch a Slam today. On the first cast he caught a 29" Snook. On the next spot he caught a bunch of Lady fish that jumped like mini-Tarpon! The last spot he caught 7 Redfish up to 28" and one Tout at 21" long!
He was a happy camper, and tired!

I took Bill and his buddy out and hit a couple docks.
Bill hooked about a 30" snook that came completely out of the water before it dove under a dock and pulled the hook.
The next fish hit the pigfish at full speed and ran straight thru the dock and out the other side. There was no slowing it with 30 # braid!
What a great start to the morning!

It's always great when I get together with my brother.
Multiple trout were caught off of wind blown points, using soft plastic paddle tails.
