When I was a kid at home, we never heard of an artificial Christmas tree and never considered buying a real one. We would go cut down one of the many cedar trees on the ranch and nail and wire it up the best we could a corner in the living room. At the time I didn't realize that a Christmas tree should have any particular shape, just that it had to be suitable for hanging lights and ornaments. One of the things we always hung on the tree was something call icicles. They were just very thin, long strips of aluminum. They were usually silver in color, but one year we bought red ones. Passing this mesquite tree today brought back some of those memories. Not only the hanging mesquite beans but also the shape of the tree 😁
