Here's an excellent example of how to cast and get a good dead drift or natural presentation without a whole bunch of technical witchcraft. This is the way I cast and fish the majority of the time with good reason - it works and gives great results!

Now that winter is really starting to appear like it's here, if you're a hard water fisherman please remember the following thumb rules:

Ice isn't safe to walk, skate, or fish on until it's 4-6 inches thick. Snowmobile users should wait until it's at least 5", and vehicles 8-12" at a minimum. Always test as you move out for the first time and steer clear of areas with moving water such as the mouth of a stream.
With temperatures below freezing and no wind lakes and ponds will generally form 1/3" of ice every 12 hours so wait 3-4 days with those conditions before venturing out for the first time.
The following is an excellent video on what to do if you break through the ice:

Be safe out there!

Working hard for the fish but they're here. Scenery isn't too shabby either!

I love guiding for Weatherbys and helping anglers like these two great guys! Patience and working the water thoroughly in the fall can reward you with some really nice fish like these and may even get you in the 20 inch club!

Proud to be part of keeping alive this great heritage and tradition! (Not the coolers-but they're pretty great also!)
