Africa has created countless first-time hunters, and Dan was one of them.

He joined us alongside his son simply for the experience, and he couldn’t have chosen a better first trophy than this stunning White Blesbok. What started as a once-in-a-lifetime adventure quickly turned into more.

By the time they headed home, Dan had two phenomenal trophies, unforgettable memories with his son, and stories they’ll be telling for years to come.

What an absolute banger of an evening with Tyler and Jerad!

We started the stalk weaving our way through the thick vaalbos, catching only brief glimpses of the Gemsbok as they moved through the brush. After waiting patiently for nearly 30 minutes, the perfect old cow finally stepped into view, and Jerad made a perfect shot. The herd had no idea where the shot came from, and the stalk was on again!

Not long after, Tyler got his opportunity on a stunning Golden Gemsbok bull at 270 yards, making an incredible shot.

Both Gemsbok measured over 39”, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to end the day. Sometimes clients leave Africa without getting a Gemsbok… and sometimes everything just comes together perfectly.

You’ve got to love Africa! 🇿🇦

One of my favorite parts of guiding is the laughs we share in the bush. 😅

My client had absolutely no idea the 6.5 Creedmoor joke was coming… and let’s just say a few feathers might get ruffled over this one! 😂

Tim with a beautiful blesbok! These animals can be incredibly alert, and after being spooked by a flock of birds, things got interesting. The kiewiet bird is probably my biggest enemy in the bush—they seem determined to ruin every stalk!

Fortunately, we managed to slip in quietly and get into position. When the moment came, Tim showed us exactly what the 7mm Rem Mag is capable of, making a perfect shot and sealing the deal. Well done, Tim, on a great hunt and a fantastic blesbok!

Harvested a magnificent Black Wildebeest (white-tailed gnu) with Jared. After a solid stalk on the open plains, Jared made an incredible first shot, followed by a perfect follow-up at over 400 yards—textbook ex*****on under pressure. These animals are tough, fast, and full of character!
What makes this even better is the conservation success story. Black wildebeest were nearly wiped out in the late 1800s (fewer than 600 left), but thanks to private landowners, sustainable hunting, and dedicated conservation efforts, the species has bounced back strongly. Hunters have played a huge role in funding habitat protection and game management that brought them back from the brink. Today, they thrive on well-managed lands across South Africa. 
Nothing beats ethical hunting that directly supports wildlife recovery. Grateful for the opportunity and the memories! #308

Pure Africa magic at golden hour. What an epic way to end the day!

The sky was on fire with that perfect cinematic sunset glow, a big moon hanging on the horizon, not a cloud in sight.

We’re cruising back to the lodge after a solid day in the bush when suddenly a whole herd of blue wildebeest comes thundering right across the front of the vehicle!

Very impressed with this old Vietnam veteran behind the rifle. At 78 years old he put in the miles and made every shot count — all one shot kills. His longest shot of the trip was 270 yards and it was placed absolutely perfectly. To top it off, we got an incredible old warthog with massive warts and tusks rubbed down from years digging. Hunting brings people together in ways you don’t always expect. My clients Tim and Danette went above and beyond by donating school clothes and simple board games to 25 kids at Bophelo Children’s Home in Kimberley.

It was a tough one for me, being so far and a long way from my own, but this truly opened my eyes to a whole new perspective.

A big thank you to both of you for your generosity — it means more than words can say.

Because of this, I’ll also be donating meat from the hunting season to the home going forward. Small acts can make a big difference.
