In 2021, two people started running in Bloomer, one joined in Chippewa Falls, and they all finished together in Eau Claire, WI. They raised $3,383 and the first Positive Vector was born (though it wasn’t named for another year). Since then we have found starting points in the four cardinal directions, highlighting different parts of rural Wisconsin.
Now in our 5th year, we are returning to the original route, and we are so excited to share it with our expanded running community. Our friends at Visit Eau Claire have once again created a fantastic map of the course.
A Note on the Weather: This event has always been billed as a “Winter Marathon” and this year seems hell bent on living up to the title. We understand that we run a casual event. We make a point to call this a running event and not a race. We take our time, and have conversations along the way. This casual environment has attracted multiple first time marathoners over the years.
This Saturday is not a good day for first-timers. The high is expected to be below zero. We are still moving forward with Positive Vector 2025, but every single participant is asked to know their limits and their comfort zone. Some runners may opt to switch to the half (limited bus seating), some may choose to do a 5k loop in town, some will decide to drink a hot cocoa indoors and do the run another day. All of these are great ways to participate!
No matter what you decide to do, we hope you can join us for the afterparty at The Lakely! The space will be open at 3pm, and the party will be 5-8pm.
If you haven’t already done so, please consider donating. Throw some of your support behind that wild friend/family member doing the run!
