NO PERSON IS AN ISLAND!

What does that really mean?

No matter what you do in life, you have to find your way with people around you. People need to rely on you, and you need to rely on them. There may even be times when your success, happiness, or very survival depends on others.

A perfect example of this is when someone walks into a gym for the very first time.

They see rows of equipment and instantly feel intimidated. Then come the questions:
What are these machines for?
How do I use them correctly?
How do I train without getting hurt?
How do I breathe properly while lifting?
How do I fuel my body for energy and recovery?
How do I train efficiently and actually see results?

For a beginner, this is information overload.

Unfortunately, many trainers hand people a cookie-cutter workout program and simply tell them to follow it. Even if the client works hard and follows the plan, that alone does not guarantee success.

Over the past couple weeks, we’ve talked about using gym equipment correctly, along with proper body mechanics and alignment to improve efficiency in your training.

Now let’s talk about the missing piece… your GAME PLAN.

Nutrition and Success in the Gym

In last week’s post we talked about the expectations people have when joining a gym. Nutrition was mentioned in that post, and today I want to talk briefly about it.

Nutrition has everything to do with your success in the gym. Even if you are not in the gym, nutrition is still critical for maintaining your everyday health.

Let’s start with the basics.

Nutrition is fuel for the body, and it also helps the body heal. Your body needs a balance of carbohydrates, proteins, and essential fats. You need to fuel the body before your workout so you have the energy to push the weight. After your workout, you must fuel the body again to promote recovery.

Nutrition around your workouts is crucial.

When you train, you are breaking the body down. If you don’t provide it with the proper nutrition, your body will become weaker. Your strength will decrease. Muscles can become smaller. Your energy will disappear, and your body may become sick more often.

So ask yourself:

Do I want to be a beast in the gym?
Or do I want to be a lamb in the gym?

It really comes down to the choices you make.

Do you want optimal growth and success in the gym?
Are you willing to learn about nutrition?
Are you willing to prep meals?
Are you willing to do what it takes to succeed?
Are you willing to listen to the trainer?
