Congratulations David Woodburn on another Maryland's Finest entry. David took his buck in the snow Jan 7th, 2025, by crossbow in St. Mary's county. Measured by BBS OM Chuck Wilcox, Davey’s buck scores gross 125 2/8" and an even 115 0/8" net. Winter wonderland and a 4-inch character point... a nice addition to Bucks Bears Stags addition.

Kenny Eck tagged this big-bodied Queen Anne’s County typical buck on December 5, 2024. Even with lots of mass, the 14 7/8 inches of symmetry deductions and a couple abnormal points reduced the buck’s gross score of 155 0/8 to a net score of 140 1/8 which exceeded the minimum for a typical buck taken by a firearm and made the record book. Kenny met up with BBS OM John Melvin to apply the tape. Congratulations Kenny!

Bucks-Bears-Stags is happy to add Gary Klinefelter's trophy buck to Maryland's Finest. Gary took this 8-point typical buck with his crossbow on November 16th 2024 in Charles County. The buck Gross scores 124 5/8" and Nets 118 7/8". This is Gary's first entry into Maryland's records program. Congratulations Gary!

BBS Official Measurer John Melvin applied the tape to Wyatt Lerian’s giant non-typical Talbot County muzzleloader buck taken last early muzzleloader season. With 13 scoreable points, a right beam length of 24 5/8, a left beam length of 24 0/8 and an inside spread of 20 7/8, Wyatt’s buck had it all! The brow tines were 7 6/8 and 8 0/8. The gross score came in at 171 7/8 with a net non-typical score of 169 0/8. Wow!

Get those animals in before our August 31st deadline for the third edition of “Maryland’s Finest.”We will be measuring at the Maryland Fur Trappers expo on August 1st.

Happy Friday folks! Just a reminder we are closing in on Bucks Bears Stags third edition due out late this year. We need all animals to be measured and submitted before our August 31st deadline for inclusion in this book. We have added about 300 new animals including several high listing entries since the last edition. Please reach out to us if you have animals you need measured! This is going to be a great book!

At seven years-old, Legend Bailey has accomplished a rare feat. Legend used his crossbow to take down this gorgeous ten-point typical velvet buck last September 9, 2025, in Somerset County.
Bucks-Bears-Stags Official Measurer Bob Newton applied the tape with a result of a1412/8 gross score and a net typical score of 135 7/8. Record book velvet bucks are special, especially when taken by a youth hunter. Congrats Legend! And... Thank you Youth Sponsor, Steve Keithley!

Hollie Robbins found this nice stag in Dorchester County. Today he had Glen Jenkins measure the rack at a gross score of 68 6/8 with a net of 59 4/8 inches. We are happy to add this entry to “Maryland’s Finest” records “picked up” category for found stags. Book three is really shaping up as Hollie’s stag takes the number 9 spot of 13 entries now in this category. Really cool to see these lost trophies getting found and recognized. Congratulations!

When Casey Kennedy’s 8-point Sika stag hit social media in October of 2022, the Sika world went wild. Finally, this past weekend, Casey had his stag measured by Bucks-Bears-Stags Official Measurer Bob Newton. Casey harvested his stag with a compound bow on October 6, 2022, in Dorchester County. With a gross score of 73 1/8 and a net score of 70 7/8, Casey’s stag places at Number 5 in the current Maryland records. Any Sika stag over 70-inches is a lifetime achievement! Congratulations!

Congratulations to Darcy Hutchison on this huge deadhead he found in Talbot County. OM Bob Newton measured the very unique palmated rack over two sessions to correctly determine baselines in agreement with the Boone and Crockett Clubs head of records. The gross score comes in at 207 5/8 with a non typical net of 193 5/8. We are happy to add this wild antlered deer to “Maryland’s Finest” picked up category as well as the BC record book!
