Volunteer Boat Needed for Tomorrow’s Youth Event 6/6/26

We are looking for one more volunteer boat for the youth event tomorrow on Great Pond.

Maine’s summer Free Fishing Weekend is here, May 30 and 31. Hopefully the weather improves a bit and everyone gets a chance to take advantage of it.

Just a reminder, the 2026 Maine Bass Nation Freedom Team Trail Youth Bass Tournament is next Saturday, June 6, on Great Pond.

We tried to align the youth event with Free Fishing Weekend, but the dates did not line up this year. That means regular Maine fishing license rules will apply next weekend.

A valid Maine fishing license is required for anyone 16 years of age or older to fish in inland waters or transport fish taken from inland waters.

For more details or if your youth needs a boater, please reach out to a local club or to Dave or Elizabeth Trask. They will try to help set up a volunteer boat.

Youth anglers ages 17 and under are invited to join us on Great Pond for the 2026 Maine Bass Nation Freedom Team Trail Youth Bass Tournament.

Anglers will be split into two groups: registered youth bass members competing to qualify, and newer youth anglers who are just getting started.

Whether your youth is chasing the next level or just wants to fish with an experienced angler, this is a great event to check out.

Congratulations to team Madera & Flaherty for winning the PYS Top Finisher prize at the Freedom Team Trail Tournament on China Lake. They also took home the PYS/Freedom Team Trail lunker award. Great job!

Rain, cold, and still full send.

We had a strong turnout on the water and together Maine B.A.S.S. Nation raised $8,264 for Special Olympics Maine. That number matters, and so does everyone who showed up and supported it.

Lakeside hooked us up with amazing food, shelter, a private ramp, and yes boat slips. Feeding anglers not once but twice if you did not hit snooze on the alarm clock. Cobbossee did not disappoint either, with 15 big fish hitting the scales for a shot at lunker. Portland Yacht Services, we have a big one coming your way for the Big Bass Contest.

Also a big thank you to our state team and nation members helping at the scales and making sure everything ran smooth.

From a tough weather day to a meaningful impact, this one delivered.
