I’ve taken 3 days now to try and put words to Sunday nights races and there aren’t any. People freak out when it comes to “Track Bashing” but when they bring it upon themselves it’s really difficult to not say anything and that is why I took this long to post our race day results.
I wanna apologize to the team because not a single one of you deserved to be put through and endure what we did on Sunday for simply doing what we have done best all year long, and that is to be the best prepared and have the best car all night once again! No matter what happens, we know the ability of this car and our team and can only dictate what happens with own car on the track.
We spent a lot of time during the week perfecting everything knowing what was on the line! We unloaded FAST like always. But it was a special kind of fast, almost 2 tenths quicker than the field. Then our day just fell off a cliff from that moment forward, qualifying would get rain out, Track takes practice times as our “qualifying” times and we have to watch the guy we are racing for a championship start front row of the heat race as we start last, because we were prepared for when we rolled out of the trailer. Managed to drive it to 3rd in the heat but ran out of laps as you can’t pass a guy running in every lane on the track leaving you no room to move forward.
Feature was a laughing stock. Started in the back, drove it to the inside of the former champion and current points leader, making a move for 2nd only to get driven into the infield. We’d fall back to 5th but like I said earlier, this team brought something special on Sunday with nothing to show for it! We’d drive ourselves all the way back up to 3rd and make our way to the inside of another former champion to battle for 2nd once again with our eyes set on chasing down the leader! Or so we thought, next thing I know we are mowing the lawn in the infield once again for no reason. Managed to keep the car straight and come out of the grass in 2nd but the damage was done and although we cut the lead in half, 2 cars destroying the right side of our Racecar was just to much damage for us to give the leader a run for their money. We’d settle for yet another 2nd place finish after coming from the back 3 times in a feature that went Green to Checker.
