One Day, You’ll Answer to You
One day, the person in the mirror is going to ask you a question.
Not your spouse.
Not your children.
Not your parents.
Not your boss.
You.
The version of you that was always waiting on the other side of your fear.
And the question won’t be:
“Did you get everything right?”
Because nobody does.
And the question won’t be:
“Did you make enough money?”
It won’t be:
“Did everyone like you?”
It won’t even be:
“Did you make mistakes?”
The question will be:
“Why didn’t you trust me?”
Why didn’t you trust me enough to take the chance?
Why didn’t you trust me enough to start over?
Why didn’t you trust me enough to leave what was making us miserable?
Why didn’t you trust me enough to stay and fight for what mattered?
Why didn’t you trust me enough to apply for the job, launch the business, write the book, take the trip, have the conversation, or tell the truth?
Why did you spend so much time waiting for certainty when life was asking only for courage?
Most people think their future is something that happens to them.
But your future is listening to every decision you make today.
Every excuse.
Every risk.
Every compromise.
Every act of courage.
And little by little, those choices become a life.
One day you’ll stand in front of a mirror with more years behind you than ahead of you.
And in that reflection, you’ll meet the person your decisions created.
My hope for you is that when that day comes, you don’t see a stranger.
You see someone who was brave enough to become who they were meant to be.
