l thank the players for their outstanding performance in the Arab Cup.
Today, we did not deserve to lose. I also thank the fans and the media for their support and encouragement.
We played tonight’s match with only 15 players, due to the red card for Hussein Ali in addition to five injuries we suffered during the tournament.
The tournament’s regulations did not allow us to register any additional players.
Iwas not satisfied with our first-half performance; it was extremely poor. In the second half, we completely dominated the match. This is exactly what I told the players after the game — we must play like this from the beginning if we want to qualify for the World Cup.
It was a special experience for me in the Arab Cup. The organization was good and the fan attendance was fantastic. However, playing every two days is exhausting for national teams, especially with the squad limit of only 23 players.
We have three and a half months to prepare for the World Playoff. My message to the players remains clear: no one has a guaranteed spot in the Iraqi national team. Everyone must work hard and remain committed in the next stage, with consistent playing time — whether in the local league or abroad.
I thank the media for their positivity during this tournament. I ask them to continue this support because it reflects positively in the dressing room.
I also salute the Iraqi fans for their encouragement and support.
The year 2025 was extremely difficult for the Iraqi national team, with many missed opportunities to qualify. But there is still a chance next year, and I tell you now: we will achieve your ambitions in 2026.
