My pets: Bubbles and Crowmie
Maybe one day they will be able to hang out together on the patio but for now, Crowmie gets the outdoors and Bubbles gets the indoors.

☀️ Summer Is Around the Bend

For many of us, the transition from the school year into summer can feel both exciting and overwhelming.

The shift from a highly structured and predictable routine into a more flexible season often means changing schedules, vacations, longer days, and fewer anchors in our week.

While summer can bring more freedom, it can also leave us feeling a little untethered.

At Fitness Union, we believe that having a few meaningful touchpoints throughout the week can make all the difference.

Our small-group strength training cohorts meet just twice per week, offering a consistent opportunity to move your body, connect with others, and care for yourself—even when life feels full.

Strength training isn’t just about what happens in the gym.

It’s about having the strength and resilience to enjoy everything the Pacific Northwest has to offer:

🌲 Hiking your favorite trails🚲 Riding your bike around town🏕️ Camping and adventuring🌊 Swimming, paddling, and exploring🌻 Gardening and spending time outdoors❤️ Feeling capable and confident in your body

And perhaps most importantly, it’s about being part of a community that knows your name and notices when you’re there.

Summer doesn’t have to mean losing your routine. Sometimes all it takes is two hours a week, a supportive community, and a commitment to yourself.

Where are my perimenopausal ladies at?

If you are in the thick of it, listen up.

I’m right there with you.

This is not a curse. It’s a threshold. And there are as many gifts that come from this stage as there are symptoms.

Strength training can be so supportive during this stage AND we have to also honor that each person’s experience is nuanced.

So many studies and trends are showing the importance of lifting heavy things, lifting to failure, lifting multiple times a week. And while I agree with a lot of those things, I also recognize that some days, it’s also ok to rest and slow down.

I feel like the fitness industry told us all to do cardio and be skinny most of our lives and now it’s to get strong and lift heavy things and eat a million grams of protein with the same amount of pressure and expectation.

We just changed the storyline but the narrative is the same.

It’s based on trends and expectations and delivered with fear.

It’s also highly commercialized and we’re told we need creatine and protein powder and supplements …

As a trauma informed studio we don’t prescribe to a fear based agenda. We are here to support and guide you.

Yes. Lift heavy things with good form but only when you feel safe and ready.

Progress on your terms at your pace.

Listen to your body.

No pressure.

Your goals not ours.

Come learn how to strength train in a way that honors your body.

This testimonial causes me to tear up every time. I began working with Sara back in 2018. We parted ways during the pandemic but she found her way back when I opened the studio on Alberta.

Although I no longer offer in person coaching, I feel 100% confident in our team and handing off clients like this to my most valued clients has felt so good.

I know they are in good hands and I also know they can offer something different than what I offer; their own unique coaching gifts.

I love our members and our team so much.

Thanks for helping us grow and evolve!

I now get to act as the founder/ visionary which allows me to bring more to this community than I could when I was on the ground. I get a Birds Eye view. I get to feel into the community in a new way. A more grounded and spacious way.

And I get to support our team with more presence and gratitude.

And I get to continue to build Sacred Playground: the newest version of Fitness Union Cohorts will run through this newest offering.

I can’t wait to share more! Stay tuned if you are interested in joining a virtual cohort that focuses of deeper healing, movement as play and recovery and more vulnerable connection and community.

Are you hyper-mobile? Recently diagnosed with EDL? Do you have a chronic illness or recurring injury? Are you neurodivergent?

Have you struggled to find a way to integrate strength training into your life bc the conditions weren’t right?

Maybe the gym environment felt overwhelming or you didn’t feel accepted.

Or maybe you felt like you needed to figure it out alone and struggled to do so.

Or maybe you are afraid of injuring or re-injuring yourself.

Or are you tired of being disregarded and expected to follow a cookie cutter approach that doesn’t fit you.

Maybe you have worked with a trainer who imposed their goals onto you.

We are a trauma informed strength training studio.

We integrate the training and practices in our mission as a community focused gym and into each training session.

We offer modifications for all movements. We encourage you to participate in the training program through meditation, and inquiry. We want to co-create a training experience with you versus demanding that you do something that doesn’t work for you.

Some days I feel great. Other days I feel exhausted or am experiencing symptoms from my chronic illness. Some days I feel social and extroverted and other days I feel luteal and cocoony. Some days I feel resilient and other days I feel defeated.

We are calling all members in who are looking to be supported and guided in a way that works for you.

We support many neurodivergent clients, as well as perimenopausal clients, clients with illness and clients who have hyper-mobility.

We know that you know your body best. We appreciate hearing about your experience. We offer suggestions but never expect you to follow them blindly.

We encourage you to listen to your body.
We offer coaching that encourages you to share in the experience. To reflect inward and to move from a more embodied place.

We currently have openings on M/W and T/Th mornings and midday.

M/W 5pm cohort coming soon! Get on the waitlist by sending us a message or heading to our website.

This is what coaching at Fitness Union looks like. It looks like connection, care, empathy, compassion.

Our coaches are trained as trauma informed weightlifting coaches. They understand that we don’t all learn the same way. They offer modifications and guidance as opposed to rigid, prescribed exercises. They understand that all bodies are different. And that you are the only one in your body. We encourage feedback, questions and open dialogue.

In a culture where big box, group fitness is the norm and where doing it alone is the other option, we provide a safe place to land. A place where you are welcomed and appreciated. A place that truly cares about your wellbeing.

Train in a cohort 2x/ week with a personal trainer.

Accountability
Connection
Community
Trauma informed care
Excellent coaching

If I could only do one exercise for the rest of my life, it would be the Turkish Get-up.

You get strength, stability, mobility and coordination. It’s full body and functional.

Being able to get down and up off the ground is key to a healthy aging body.

Thanks for the demo, Sandro!
