East Pete Swim Team

I have made the difficult decision to step down as President of the East Pete Swim Team effective immediately. Both my daughters have chosen to trade in their goggles and swim suits for different sports gear. My family and I have been swim team members for 8 years and I have served as President for the past 4 years. It has been a pleasure working with our wonderful coaches and so many families and community members over the years.

Unfortunately, I have been unsuccessful in finding another coach. Since we haven’t had a swim team in 2 years, we have lost most of our families to other swim clubs. It is very hard to hire a coach with so many uncertainties. We also have other Board Members, besides myself, whose children are no longer swimming and we can’t commit to running the team the way it should be run. If someone would like to step up and take over the Board Member roles, please feel free to contact me by March 22, 2022 (serious inquiries only).

The East Pete Swim Team will always hold a special place in our hearts. Many memories and forever friendships were made that will never be forgotten. Once a frog… always a frog!🐸

EAST PETERSBURG SUMMER SWIM TEAM COACH NEEDED!!!!

As the months are flying by, we are looking ahead to the warm, summer weather. We would like to try and honor the request of our community to bring back the East Petersburg Summer Swim Team. We are looking for an experienced head coach to lead our swimmers, teach the skills, schedule meets and enter meet entries, and provide a positive experience for learning and growth. You must be available for daily morning practices (7:45-10:00 am), Monday through Friday, from the first week of June to the last week of July. Swim meets are Tuesday and Thursday evenings 5:00-9:00 pm during the summer swim season. There are also occasional weekend Invitationals in June until the end of July. It is with great sadness that I have to tell you the East Pete Swim Team will not be able to participate in the 2021 summer swim season. 😔

Unfortunately, we have been unsuccessful in finding a coach. I have reached out to many former swimmers and coaches in the swim community and followed up with 15+ possible inquiries, only to get turned down. I also had no response from the newspaper ad that has been running for the past 30 days. Without coaches, we cannot participate in the summer swim season.

Other teams in the area are beginning to open up their registrations. Hopefully our interested swimmers can have an opportunity to swim this season with another team.

It breaks my heart to have to make this difficult decision. The East Pete Swim Team has been in existence for 50+ years. 😔

Hello EPST families.

I know many of you may not be thinking about the summer swim season, as the snow is melting and the weather is still cold. But, plans are in the works for a summer swim season to happen. Unfortunately, this year will look a little different since Coach Julie has decided to retire after many years of coaching😔 We will miss her dearly and wish her the best as she enjoys some much needed and deserving family time. Coach Paige is also not returning due to her work/school schedule.

With that said, I am in the process of looking for another coach. To date, the process of hiring a coach has been unsuccessful and many other teams are in the same situation. Unfortunately, COVID has done a number on all of us. Not many people have a job that gives them time off in the morning, on a daily basis, to coach a summer swim team.

As a heads up, going forward with the swim season, there will be COVID restrictions, such as no concessions, and a possibility of no spectators (only those needed to run a meet). Several teams in the league are going through the same situation...not knowing if their pool will open, looking for coaches, swim families not sure if they will return, and many other COVID uncertainties.

So, my question is....WHO IS PLANNING ON REGISTERING FOR THIS YEAR’S SWIM SEASON? I can’t interview coaching prospects if I don’t have the numbers!!! There is a lot of work to be done in a very short amount of time and only 3 of us trying to keep this team afloat. Please let me know by Wednesday March 3rd what your families intentions are...yes or no! If we do not have the numbers, than our swim team is in jeopardy of not returning! I am sorry to have to give a quick deadline, but Hempfield Rec will be finalizing their Spring/Summer brochure by the end of the week.

Hello Everyone!

Hope you are all enjoying your summer so far and this beautiful weather! I just wanted to pass along some information about a swim camp that the Hempfield Rec is having for swimmers ages 8-18, who have had one year of swim team experience. Please review the information below and contact the Hempfield Rec Center to sign up, if interested.

HEMPFIELD REC SWIM CAMP
For youth 8 to 18! Perfect your stroke mechanics and increase your endurance in this five-week camp. We will practice in the Hempfield recCenter indoor pool one hour, Monday through Friday. Swimmers must have one year of swim team experience. Each session is limited to 22 swimmers.
Two sessions!
Ages 8 to 11 will practice Monday thru Friday from 9:00 am–10:00 am
Ages 12 to 18 will practice Monday thru Friday from 8:00 am–9:00 am
Camp begins on July 6th and runs through August 7th.
Please enter through the outdoor pool entrance. Masks are strongly recommended coming into and exiting our facility. Masks do not need to be worn in the pool area. One adult may accompany the swimmer but must stay outside on the patio. Social distancing is required.

Due to COVID-19, we are living in a very uncertain world right now and have never experienced anything like this before. So with that said...

It is with great sadness and with a heavy heart that I tell you that our Board members and coaches have made the difficult decision to cancel our swim season for this year😞 Unfortunately, there are just too many uncertainties, financial burdens, and future restrictions that are just out of our control. The safety of our swimmers, coaches and families is our ultimate concern.

The Lancaster Lebanon Summer Swim League Board has not made their final decision about the entire swim season yet. We may not hear until the end of May whether the swim season would even happen....and there are still uncertainties going forward. Hopefully with social distancing and following the medical guidelines, our lives will go back to normal in a few months. Our goal is to come back next year, stronger than ever! Stay safe Frogs! We will certainly miss you all this summer. Take care.

First and foremost, I hope that you are all doing well and staying safe and healthy! This is certainly a difficult time for all of us, not knowing what the future holds.

As we await a correspondence from the Lancaster County Summer Swim League regarding our 2020 season, I wanted to let you know that we are still going to open the online registration tomorrow (April 1). We are two months away from the start of the season and hopefully things will all work out in our favor. If not, you will be refunded your registration fee.

Due to the Hempfield Rec Center being closed, we will not be able to offer the team suit try-on during the month of April. We can offer that at a later time. All of the registration paperwork can be found on our website or you can register online at www.eastpeteswimteam.teampages.com. (under the Registration tab). Our registration and team suit try-on will be held on Saturday, April 4 from 10:00 am until noon and Thursday, April 23 from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Hempfield Rec (pool deck).
