πŸ’ NY DEK Hockey All-Star Event Recap

The NY DEK Hockey All-Star Event kicked off with an exciting skills competition showcasing some of the league’s top talents.

In the Hardest Shot competition, Justin Gibson recorded a blistering 91 MPH shot, earning top honors. The Accuracy Challenge was won by Dylan Lashuk, who scored 4 points by hitting two of the small targets. The Shootout competition went the distance, reaching the 5th round, where Brody Weiss ultimately came out on top. On the goaltending side, Anthony Talavera was outstanding, allowing just two goals during the entire shootout competition.

The evening then moved into the All-Star Game, where the team representing East Meadow, Sachem, and Lindenhurst pulled away late for a 5–3 victory, including an empty-net goal to seal it. Despite the final score, the game was tight throughout and tied with about four minutes remaining, before the winning side capitalized late to secure the win.

It was a great night highlighting the skill, competitiveness, and excitement of players from across the league. πŸ’βœ¨

πŸ”΅ VARSITY (Final Seeds)
πŸ₯‡ 1. E Meadow, Bellmore & Merrick (7–2, 15 pts)
EMBM finishes as the top seed after winning the head-to-head series (2–1) over Massapequa, which serves as the primary tiebreaker. A strong finish on both ends of the floor secured first place.

πŸ₯ˆ 2. Massapequa (7–2–1, 15 pts)

πŸ₯‰ 3. Sachem (6–4, 12 pts)
Sachem claims third with consistent scoring and one of the league’s best goal differentials. A steady season positions them well heading into postseason play.

Smithtown finishes fourth after a balanced season offensively. They showed late momentum and enter the playoffs capable of pushing anyone.

5. Lindenhurst (0–9–1, 1 pt)
Despite a difficult regular season, Lindenhurst closes strong with valuable late-game experience and resets cleanly for postseason play.

🟒 JUNIOR VARSITY (Final Seeds)
Three teams finished tied at 11 points, triggering multiple tiebreakers.

πŸ₯‡ 1. Massapequa JV (5–4–1, 11 pts)
Earns the top seed after wins were tied, using fewest goals allowed (29 GA) as the next tiebreaker.

πŸ₯ˆ 2. Suffolk County Free Agents (5–4–1, 11 pts)
Edges Nassau into second place by winning the head-to-head series (2–1).

πŸ₯‰ 3. Nassau County Free Agents (5–4–1, 11 pts)
Same record and points as Suffolk, but settles into third due to the head-to-head tiebreaker.

4. E Meadow, Bellmore & Merrick JV (5–5, 10 pts)
Also finishes with five wins, but lands fourth after the other three teams picked up extra points through overtime or shootout losses.
