To all of my Friends And Customers, I will Not be Accepting Any Reel Work until Further Notice. As I finish Up the Dozen or So, of Reels I have left, If taken on a job for a San Diego Charter Boat with over 40 Reels. As soon as I get them completed and post them, I will resume my regular business as usual. Until then, Thank you for understanding. I'm a 1 man Army, and I prefer it that way.

I've done literally thousands of reels since 1979, but these reels having to completely restore them from parts bags and building them from scratch was one of the most gruelling challenges ever. Locating discontinued parts and individually having to remove surface rust and filing down parts and cleaning excessive galvanic corrosion and removing deteriorated bearings, was brutal. So I get this call yesterday from a guy who wanted his reels serviced. We go on and on about what he wants and discuss a price to him. He immediately freaks out and starts telling me that I charge way too high, and I'm crazy for doing so. Today, I had my old truck tuned up by my mechanic, Simple stuff with an oil change, all the normal stuff and new wires. Charges me $535.00 and is done in 4+ hours. I have no problem with that. Oftentimes, I'm working on some reels in an excess of 3 hours + cleaning out all the crap the last guy who did it incorrectly, or trouble shooting the idiotic methods he jimmy rigged inside them. In most cases my average cost is only $45.00 for a 2 speed reels. So next time be a little fkn considerate if you ever need me to help you build up your reel to work in optimum condition. Sorry Rant Over. You know who you are.

Make sure you get your reels serviced annually. Here's an excellent example of why. I opened up this Talica moments ago and it felt funny. Open up the protective cover and Not to my amazement, it has about an ounce of water still inside it. "How does this happen ?" You may ask, there are many ways for water to pe*****te inside the o-ring seal on Talica's but the #1 way is Blasting fresh water from the water hose into your reels. YES, rinsing off your reel needs to be done, but Not in Excess. Next time keep a spray bottle in your car or truck and spray the outside of your reels when done and wipe dry. You don't need to douse your reels with a massive amount of water. This will occur in some cases. Check your gear , before it puts You in Check !

Joe Hernandez, Your Supertuned Reels are Ready for Pickup ! 😃 I've been working on Fishing Reels since the early 1980's and I've seen a lot of product and I'm pretty stubborn on trying New Stuff. Well I was contacted by to try out their reel lubricants and I must say, I'm impressed. They provide a Great Kit for those who like to "Do it yourself ". It contains 3 separate- 10 ml. Tins of Quality Grease Lubricant and a 10 ml. Bottle of Performance oil, for either Spinning Reels or Conventional Reels. The semi fluid Grease is ideal for spinning reels gears and a separate tin for conventional gears. The conventional gear grease has great adhesive qualities and won't bleed off thus contaminating ceramic bearings and hindering performance. I especially like the Power Drag Grease. I've used Cals Grease all my Life, but this stuff is soft and adheres well and is Super Smooth and increases your drag pressure substantially. The oil is also very slick and works fantastic. This kit is ideal for Bait casters and will go a long way. I'm sure you can service a lot more than 15 - 20 baitcasting reels with this kit. It's Worth, L👀KING Into !

As we approach the Winter Season, and your fishing gear gets set aside until next season, it's a good practice to make sure your reels are "Ready To Go" Next Year. If you haven't already done so, Go thru your gear and ask yourself , when was the last time your reels were serviced ? Right Now is a Great time to do so. Don't be "that guy" next year who gets called up to go fishing next week, and realize your gear is not functioning or working properly. Have your reels serviced before they sit all winter allowing rust to accumulate or salt preventing proper Freespool or other essential factors of operation. Besides having them done during the off season gives me a lot more time with your reels versus, pumping out reels during the spring, when everyone waits until the last minute to do so. It's been a long time since I've built a Reel for myself, so this evening I built an old school Tuna reel with my New custom made "see comments for photos", ACF "Advance Carbon Fiber" 6 stack drags with a Alan Tani handle and Abec 7 hybrid Ceramic bearings. Now if I can make time to go fish it, that would be even better 😂
