I shared this on my fellow travelers group community page, but thought I’d also share it here because this is one of my favorite Tara Brach videos. Tara Brach is one of my favorite wisdom teachers.. She’s wise, often intertwine humor, while teaching Buddhist principles which encourage more self compassion and gentleness. Enjoy!

I'm grateful to share this short excerpt from a recent interview with fellow nurse coach Christine Gilchrist.
In our conversation, we explore the journey behind my memoir, A Fellow Traveler, the inspiration for the reflection questions, and how those reflections led to Journey Circles.
If this short speaks to you, I'd love to invite you to watch the full interview here:

I shared this post on my Fellow Travelers community group, but thought I should share it here as well. (If at any point, you’re interested in joining our community group just message me & I’ll send you an invitation. You can also find the link on this page.) Here’s the post:

“I’ve many mentors & people who’s words inspire me across a wide spectrum of beliefs & cultures. One of the people I consistently find helpful to listen to is Tara Brach. She is a former full-time psychologist & is currently a well known Buddhist teacher. You do not have to be Buddhist to appreciate her wisdom. I’m sharing this YouTube link because I love her talk about: “the stories we tell ourselves”. You also don’t have to agree with these perspectives, but they can prod us to at least consider how the inner stories we tell ourselves affect our lives. I hope you find this interesting & helpful. Mm
Keep in mind that we are each unique individuals who likely have different beliefs, ideas & perspectives. We share to engage & support not to convince anyone of a particular perspective! 🙂

The article is actually an excerpted chapter from a very short memoir I'm writing which I hope to have ready for self-publishing by the end of the year. The memoir will be a short book with little chapters on what life experience has taught me about challenges, friendships, partnerships, grief, nursing (and God of course!) Those who know me, are well aware that I always have "thoughts" about everything! lol You can let me know what you think of this small chapter on how emotional healing doesn't always look like healing in the beginning. It's only a 4 min read! lol

Love this image I found on Printrest. It says it all! One tip is to take one sentence from your racing mind & saying it inwardly but take a breath between each word & each syllable. Give yourself permission to rest in the breath- see if you can stretch out the pauses between the words or syllables. Sometimes I forget what the rest of the sentence was. Then of course the mind races again - normal!! But often this practice slows my own racing mind down a bit & helps me focus more on the task in front of me. (I’m a bit ADHD. As they say “you teach what you need to know”.) Give it a try. At the very least you’d have given yourself a couple of nourishing breaths & a couple of “sanity pauses”! 🙂
