5K TEAM NIGHT! 🇺🇸🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

What a night for the Givin’ It A Tri crew at the NCPD Memorial 5K.

This group showed up ready to compete, and the results speak for themselves:

• 🥇 1st Age Group
• 🥇 1st Age Group
• 🥈 2nd Age Group + Fastest 5K of 2026
• 🥉 3rd Age Group
• 4th Age Group + Fastest 5K of 2026
• Multiple fastest 5Ks of 2026
• A brand-new 5K PR

But the results only tell part of the story.

Every one of these athletes has been putting in the work week after week—balancing training with careers, families, injuries, setbacks, and everything else life throws at them. Race night was simply an opportunity to cash in on that consistency.

Proud of this crew, proud of the way they competed, and even more proud of the way they continue to support one another.

We’re not done.

Push Limits. Set Standards. Inspire Others.

Ryan’s transition into triathlons began in 2021, spurred by a neighbor's suggestion. "I enjoyed my running, enjoyed my trail running before that. And my neighbor across the street... said, 'Why don’t you do a triathlon with us?'" What started as a simple suggestion evolved into Ryan participating in triathlons, ultimately leading him to the Ironman.

Ryan faced unique challenges on his path, particularly managing his type 1 diabetes. "People ask, 'You did this whole thing with diabetes? I can’t even get my nutrition down as it is.'" He humorously likens his daily management to a science experiment, adapting his nutrition and training strategies throughout the preparation.

Ryan’s story exemplifies perseverance, community support, and the importance of preparation in achieving one of the most challenging endurance events. As he concludes, the journey to Ironman isn't just about crossing the finish line; it's about growth, resilience, and the support of loved ones.

YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!

Huge congratulations to Ryan on completing his first full-distance IRONMAN at IRONMAN Canada–Ottawa!

Ryan came into this journey with plenty of endurance experience — a strong runner, trail runner, ultra runner, and already having experience in triathlon. But stepping up to the 140.6-mile distance was a completely different challenge.

Over months of training, we worked on developing the swim and bike to complement his already strong running background, while learning how to put all three disciplines together over an entire IRONMAN day. Add in the additional challenge of managing Type 1 diabetes and an insulin pump through long-course training and racing, and there were plenty of variables to navigate.

But the goal was accomplished:

140.6 miles. Finish line crossed. YOU ARE AN IRONMAN!

Congrats, Ryan. Well earned.

🎙️ Podcast episode coming soon: We’ll sit down and talk about how we originally met during a 100K, how the coaching relationship started, his endurance background, the build to his first full IRONMAN, managing diabetes throughout the process, and finally — the full race-day story from Ottawa.

Push Limits. Set Standards. Inspire Others.

Some training blocks are about building. Others are about maintaining what you’ve earned while bringing up the weak spots.

This block is about holding the standard. Bodyweight farmer carries, keeping the foundation strong, and putting extra work into the limiters.

The funny part? After the set, my dog walked over, so I picked her up and carried her to the camera.

Maybe that’s what all this training is really for.

The standard isn’t just for JOB It’s for life.
