Our sincere thanks to everyone who helped make the best of a difficult situation today in Westerly. Our friends at Grey Sail Brewing of Rhode Island opened their doors to help us welcome many of you, get your Surftown Pils (& bunches of bananas!), shirts and medals for virtual finishes - we are so grateful for their partnership and kindness.

We will have local pick-up options in CT this week and be providing details and next steps for deferrals by email tomorrow (Monday) as previously communicated. Thanks for your patience as we work out those details to make it as smooth as possible.

This was a tough one and we know it was disappointing not to go on today. We hold races rain or shine, we know that runners don't mind getting wet and as an organization, we've had our fair share of soakers that took many days to dry out from.

This wasn't about rain. Lightning and flooding are dangerous - period. Bringing 2,000+ people into a community where lightning and flooding pose a threat to their safety is not a risk we're willing to take. Thank you for your patience and understanding and know that we look forward to being back in this community with you next year.

Regretfully, the forecast continues to deteriorate during the timeframe of tomorrow's event. Together with local officials and emergency weather resources indicating intensity of thunderstorms happening earlier in the morning, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all Surftown events.

With the high risk of flood in the beach community, intensity of rain combined with thunderstorm, the threat at this time is too high to consider any other on-site options for Sunday morning. Your safety will always remain of utmost importance to us.

Miles was busy this morning representing at the 9/11 Day of Service in Hartford, part of a massive nationwide movement to "Honor Through Action" on the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy.

Nearly 1,000 volunteers joined in Hartford and Bridgeport to pack 385,000 non-perishable meals to be distributed by Connecticut Foodshare to communities in need.

Miles was joined by Office of Governor Ned Lamont, some friendly faces at Aetna, his buddy Sonar and Keith McGilvery, the Good News Guy!

Deadline reminder! This Sunday, 9/6, is the last day to order the optional Mail My Packet service for Eversource Hartford Marathon and Half Marathon events.

You can add during registration OR if you already registered and want to add, do so within your haku participant account. You can also check if you ordered or not in your account yourself - you DO NOT NEED to contact the office to confirm this! Just click on “Buy Products” within your account and check “Your Products" (pro tip - check your shipping address to ensure it's correct!).

Race packets will go out in a few weeks and should arrive by October 1.

Expanding outside CT is possible because of incredible local partners! We're thankful to have a new presenting partner of our November 1 races, the Western Mass 10 and NoHo 5K, presented by O'Connell Development Group.

The a point-to-point 10 mile race from Amherst to Northampton also features a downtown 5K welcoming runners and walkers both.
