We’re honoring the life and legacy of former Cubs manager Lee Elia, who passed away recently at the age of 87. A fiery and passionate baseball man, Elia played for both the Cubs and White Sox, and managed both the Cubs and Phillies. Elia is perhaps best remembered for his epic postgame rant in 1983, while managing the Cubs—a raw and unfiltered defense of his players that became one of the most legendary moments in baseball soundbite history. In this rant, he was able to let loose 30 F-bombs and close to 50 profanities in under 3 minutes. We’re proud to feature a rare piece of baseball history in his memory: a game-used Lee Elia bat from his days with Cubs.
