The 2025 deer season is upon us! Drones are the fad and they are great…….but only if you have an experienced operator that knows what they’re looking for! I’ll forever stand by dogs have been here since the beginning of time to hunt and track game and you’ll have a darn hard time replacing a good one like Mack. We’re a veteran team with over 75+ fatal and live recoveries. I’ve been a woodsman since I could walk and with that I help a ton of guys aid in the recovery of their deer even over the phone with years of knowledge of deer in general and their tendencies of what they do once they’re wounded. Adding a phenomenal dog to the game just amplifies our team. Mack is 7yrs old this fall and just seems to get better and better with age. Hes been such a blessing to me. I wish everyone a great and successful 2025 season. Don’t hesitate to reach out to us to locate your trophy buck or doe this season. Enjoy some of our favorites from past seasons.

Last week Mack went 2-3 on tracks. However, I truly felt that the buck we didn’t have a recovery on was still alive and well. That hunter sent me a pic 6 days after we ran the track. He was back in the area checking a scrape. Even though I trust Mack to the absolute fullest, it’s still nice to get a confirmation from the hunter that the deer is still alive. I’ll take 3-3 everytime.

Mack is still hot on the big bucks of Northern Missouri! After a track the other night of a non recovery, we had confirmation of life from the hunter/outfitter two days later (trail cam pics). Then to top that off, today we found a Northeast Missouri bruiser! This hunter handled the recovery to a T which led to a clean one track recovery from Mack. Congrats to the hunter and thank you for trusting us with finding your deer!

Still playing catch up but here’s another dandy buck that Mack was able to help recover a couple days ago! These hunters did a great job about tracking the deer to where they thought they needed to stop then called us. We got Mack on the trail out of his last bed the next morning over 24 hours and it was no time before we were all smiles over the deer. Handling the track properly is so important if you are wanting the aid of a dog. This shot looks perfect but the buck was slightly quartering to and still managed to go around 700-800 yards from shot site.

WHEN IN DOUBT, BACK OUT! Time is a hunters best friend! If he’s dead in 8 hours he’ll be dead at 24 hours.
2-4 hours on a marginal hit is not enough time to begin the process of tracking your deer, even without a dog. The majority of the time you’re going to jump the deer and make it harder on you and the dog to recover your animal. Play it smart and give him time.

Ive been bad about posting daily but we’ve been hot and heavy tracking deer and making hunters happy and or giving them piece of mind that their animal is going to see another day.

First update is a youth hunter that was able to get his hands on his big buck! His dad called us after they knew the hit was back and they had jumped him the night of the shot after tracking some decent blood. They were smart, backed out and gave us a call instead of continuing to push the deer. Mack and I arrived the next day and began the track. After Mack got his line we went 200 yards through some extremely thick rabbit brush into a little creek bottom. From there Mack was starting to slow down and becoming really methodical of where he needed to go. After a few minutes he decided to continue the track across the creek and into some more thick cover. I could tell by his body language and a little speck of blood every once in a while he was smelling what he needed to but was just a little unsure. About another 150-200 yards later we arrived at the deer. Unfortunately the coyotes had beat us to him. The dad said he had 5 coyotes on a trail camera that night and I believe that’s Mack was slow the last 150-200. Those coyotes had been in there all night spreading that scent all over that ridge. I was super proud of how Mack worked through all the traffic and was still able to recover the buck for the young hunter!

What a day to track an IOWA GIANT!

This hunter did everything perfect as far as post shot goes! He knew the shot was back and not perfect but LETHAL. He gave me a call and talked it over and we both agreed to give the deer a full 24 hours to expire, as I would suggest with any hit that liver and potential gut. We started the track this morning at 730 at the shot sight. Mack went to the first bed and took a line but not one I was confident in and I knew he wasn’t either. I restarted him at the last bed and from there he was able to find another bloodless bed (last pic) in the bottom of a big ditch. From there he was locked on and on him. Off we went up out of the ditch and through the thickest nastiest rabbit brush you could imagine. With confidence Mack showed us this MEGA BUCK. Congrats to the hunter on a buck of a lifetime. He asked to be blurred out of the pictures and I don’t blame him. When you have something good, you’ve got to keep it that way! Now we’re off to track another dandy in Missouri. We love this time of year!

We’re not always just chasing big bucks! Mack did a bang up job on this nice doe. She straight lined from the hit sight then made a big loop headed back to the shot sight. Her original track and back track were only 50 yards apart or so. Frontal shots can be very lethal, however without dog this track would’ve been tough since there was little to no blood. Hope everyone is ready for the coming weeks! It’s about to get fun!
