Equusential Fitness

Equusential Fitness Equusential Fitness recognizes that riding a horse is incredibly rewarding, humbling, and hard work! To ride well, a rider must possess:

1. Range of motion.

Our mission is to help riders be fit and athletic, to promote a better partnership between horse and rider. So often training hits a plateau because the rider isn't strong or flexible enough to reach the next level in performance. Equusential Fitness will help equestrians improve their riding through specific flexibility and strength training that is geared towards the unique needs of our sport. W

e need to have adequate range of motion (flexibility) to attain, and maintain, a correct position on the horse.
2. Strength. Riding a horse takes work! They are big animals and riders need to be strong enough to maintain balance and not interfere with the horse's rhythm and movement.
3. Dynamic balance. Unlike many sports, a rider's base of support is on a moving surface. We need to keep our core engaged and shift our balance to stay with the horse, while moving our head, arms, and legs independently.
4. Motor sequencing and timing. To be coordinated, the correct muscle groups and balance reactions need to turn on and off in an organized fashion. To have good timing, we need to do this instinctively and that means we need to practice sequencing patterns thousands of times! Equusential Fitness is dedicated to helping equestrians be prepared for the demands of their sport. No matter what your fitness level, we can work with you to meet your goals.
