Meet Taylor!

Taylor has worked with children for years through childcare and babysitting and has been swimming competitively since middle school 🏊‍♀️ Her love for the water extends beyond the pool, and you can often find her paddle boarding, rafting, boating, or swimming ☀️

She is currently training to become a raft guide and loves helping kids build confidence and skills in the water
When she’s not at the pool, Taylor is working toward a biology degree with a focus on evolution 🧬 She enjoys studying Idaho’s wildlife and plant life and spending time adventuring with Wild Hearts Idaho 🌲

We’re excited to have Taylor on our team and can’t wait for our swimmers to learn from her passion for the water and the outdoors! 💙

This week’s drill focus is the Corkscrew Drill! 🏊‍♂️

In this video, our students are working on the dolphin kick while incorporating controlled body rotation. The corkscrew drill is a multifaceted skill builder that helps swimmers develop a stronger connection between their core, hips, and kick.
By rotating smoothly through the water while maintaining a consistent dolphin kick, swimmers improve:
✨ Body awareness and balance
✨ Core strength and stability
✨ Proper body positioning in the water
✨ Rotation control and coordination
✨ Overall efficiency in all four competitive strokes

Learning to move as one connected unit through the water helps athletes swim faster, conserve energy, and build the foundation for advanced technique as they continue to grow.

🏊‍♀️ Technique Tips Tuesday 🏊‍♀️

Our Pre-Team program is designed to help swimmers build the skills, endurance, and confidence needed to join a local swim team!

This week’s drill focus is sculling, a breaststroke drill that teaches swimmers how to properly “feel” the water. By using small, controlled hand movements, swimmers learn to create propulsion with efficient technique rather than relying on strength alone.
Sculling helps improve hand positioning, timing, and water awareness—key components of a strong and efficient breaststroke. Mastering these fundamentals now sets swimmers up for success as they continue their competitive swimming journey.

Once swimmers have earned their wings in Pre-Team, the goal is simple: to be able to confidently walk onto any local swim team with the skills and foundation needed to succeed from day one.🌟

🌊Know your team Tuesday🌊

Ari has been swimming for over 10 years and has spent the last 2 years working as a Certified Mermaid Instructor and Freediving Assistant Instructor. She is passionate about safety, technique, and helping swimmers build confidence in the water at their own pace. She loves helping swimmers of all ages grow more comfortable and confident in the water 🧜‍♀️

Outside of work, you can usually find her in a mermaid tail at events, hanging out with friends at parks and cafés ☕, or enjoying hobbies like reading 📚, cooking 🍳, drawing 🎨, and rock climbing 🧗‍♀️
