A lot of sweat, a lot of hard work, and a whole lot of growth at testing today! 🥋

We are incredibly proud of both our kids and adults who stepped onto the floor and gave it everything they had.

There’s something especially impressive about the students who keep showing up through the summer. When the sun is shining and there are a million other things you could be doing, you’re still walking into the dojo, putting in the work, learning, sweating, and getting a little better every time.

That consistency matters. That perseverance matters. And it showed today.

Congratulations to everyone who tested! We’re proud of the work you’ve put in—not just today, but every day that got you here. 👊🥋

Thank you, KTVB, for highlighting these athletes and giving them the recognition they have earned. They dedicate countless hours to their traditional karate training and tournament preparation. Their hard work, discipline and commitment make us incredibly proud.

A special thank you to Sensei Kaari Wesh, our Tournament Team Director, for your exceptional guidance, leadership and dedication to every athlete.

The medal doesn’t always tell the whole story. 💙🥋

Today I want to recognize Lily Olsen.

Lily is a 1st Kyu from Lewiston, Idaho, who makes the trip to train with us at Idaho Martial Arts and joins our team as we travel to compete throughout the year. She invests countless hours into becoming a better martial artist, and this week she stepped onto one of the biggest stages she’s ever faced.

This World Championship was Lily’s very first time competing in the black belt division.

She didn’t bring home a medal today, but that doesn’t change how proud I am of her.

Success isn’t measured only by podium finishes. Sometimes success is having the courage to step onto the floor, perform under pressure, learn from the experience, and come back even stronger.

Lily, thank you for trusting us to be part of your journey. Watching you grow this year has been a privilege, and I know this is only the beginning. Keep believing in yourself, because we certainly believe in you.

What a way to start the day! 🇷🇴🥋

After an incredible Opening Ceremonies last night, today was the first day of kobudo competition.

A huge congratulations to Senpai Harry Baker for bringing home 🥉 Bronze in Short Weapons (K**a)!

Harry stepped onto the floor with confidence, composure, and heart. His division was stacked with talented competitors, and every performance was impressive. To earn a spot on the podium in a field like that is something to be proud of.

A special shoutout to Lily Olsen as well. While she didn’t make the podium today, she represented herself with courage, determination, and grace. Sometimes the results don’t reflect the effort, but I couldn’t be prouder of the athlete she’s becoming. Keep your head high, Lily—your hard work is showing, and your moment will come. 💙

Senpai Harry has put in countless hours of practice to prepare for this moment, and it’s exciting to see that hard work paying off on the international stage.

A medal does not define a person. Some people let it define them. In reality, it is only a marker along the journey of growth. It reveals strengths, exposes weaknesses, and teaches lessons that can only be learned through experience.

To truly grow, you have to be humble enough to accept your weaknesses and vulnerable enough to learn from them.

Harry Baker understands that.

For 12 years, he has trained relentlessly. Early mornings. Late nights. Countless hours. Sometimes the reward isn't a podium or a medal. Sometimes the reward is simply becoming a better martial artist and a better person.

Today was Harry's first competition at the 2026 WUKF World Championships in Romania. Competing against athletes from 47 countries, Harry earned 2nd Place in Style Specific Kata in his belt rank and age division. An incredible accomplishment on one of the biggest stages in the world.

As one of his instructors, I couldn't be prouder. Not because of the silver medal, but because of the young man who earned it through humility, perseverance, discipline, and relentless dedication.

Congratulations, Senpai Baker.. This is only the beginning. 🥈🥋🌍🇷🇴

💙 One of the greatest blessings of being an instructor is watching young students grow into remarkable adults. 🥋

I first met Katie Reynolds when she was around 7 years old. Today, she is a beautiful young woman beginning an exciting journey into the field of product design. 🏛️✨

As I look back over the years, I don't just see the belts she earned. I see the confidence she built, the perseverance she developed, and the character she displayed every step of the way. 💪🌟

There is something incredibly special about having a front row seat to a student's journey from childhood into adulthood. Moments like these remind me why Idaho Martial Arts has been my passion for nearly three decades. ❤️

Huge congratulations to Mr. Hemphill and Miss Wesh on their incredible performances at AAU Nationals! 🥋🏆

These two fought through some of the toughest divisions of the week and showed exactly what determination looks like.

🥇 Mr. Hemphill battled his way to become the AAU National Champion in both Kobudo and Kumite! He stepped onto the floor with confidence and left it with two national titles.

🥈 Miss Wesh fought her way all the way to the gold medal match in kata, earning an incredible silver medal. But the medal wasn’t the best part. Throughout the tournament, she found something even more valuable—her spirit. With a little help and encouragement from Ms. Emily, she discovered a powerful kiai and a confidence we’ve been waiting to see. That smile on the podium said it all.

We’re so proud of both of you. Your hard work, perseverance, and willingness to step into big moments paid off. Congratulations, Nationals! Keep building from here! 💙🥋
