Question from fans - "How challenging is racing"?
- From preparation to race-time brings a numerous amount of challenges! Although the cars may appear simple and somethings are thankfully it's still an incredible amount of time, effort and continuous knowledge to keep ourselves at a competitive level.
- Last night at Eagle River Speedway is a great example of a challenge off the track/in the pits. Everything was dialed in, car was fully prepped and ready to rock! Strapped in and fired it up like any other time! Head to staging and all of a sudden the car dies! With absolute frustration peaking, people asking if I needed help, I knew I needed to calm down and focus!
With a quick look at my power panel and almost completely flooding my carburetor, I was able to get it fired up again!
- Challenges on the track - due to my delay I had to sacrifice my starting position and tag the back of the field. Last night I tagged the back as they dropped the green.
You also have debris sometimes, sun and sweat in your eyes, avoiding cautions, so on and so forth.
-Track surface - the surface is a challenge all of its own. You as a driver have to predict your best setup from what you see on hand before the race starts. As you are Racing the track changes slightly and so do the lines that we are looking for.
Off the track challenges- #1 is Time, #2 is how much dedication do you have to your car and your race program?, #3 is definitely the financial side(which also reflects on #1 & #2).
I'm also a family man. A lot of consideration comes into play and wieghs in on when and where I can race.
To cap it off that silly thing called work seems to always have an upper hand on my racing program! I know this is a short and brief message but, I hope it helps answer a few questions!
