Yesterday was one of those days that reminds us exactly why we do what we do.
Our Free Community Kids Self-Defense Class in collaboration with Manos Unidas EPTX was a tremendous success, with an incredible turnout of kids from across our community. Seeing so many young ones eager to learn was truly special.
Our Little Cubs (ages 3–6) absolutely stole the show. The energy, excitement, and smiles were contagious. They're already showing the mindset and determination of grapplers—the only thing they're missing is cauliflower ear 😅. Coach Ruby continues to do an outstanding job creating a positive, welcoming environment where our youngest students can learn, grow, and have fun. We couldn't be more proud of all our Lil Cubs!
Yesterday also marked another important step forward for Fortaleza. Professor Luis officially certified our coaching staff in CPR, First Aid, and AED, further reinforcing our commitment to professionalism, safety, and providing the highest level of instruction in the area. We believe those entrusted with teaching and mentoring students should always be prepared in case of an emergency.
And as if that wasn't enough, we wrapped up the evening with an epic Open Mat. Nearly 30 grapplers came together for 20 tough 5-minute rounds. Different teams, different backgrounds, one shared passion for Jiu-Jitsu. The room was packed, the pace was relentless, and the energy was electric.
Days like yesterday don't happen by accident. They happen because of the incredible students, parents, teammates, coaches, and supporters who believe in what we're building.
Fortaleza is kicking into overdrive, and we're just not slowing down.
We have even more in the works for our students, our team, and our community.
