1095 cleaver. This specific one is lighter than a traditional cleaver with more emphasis on slicing meat and veggies than chopping through bones. Maria Delagarza Garcia thank you for the purchase, and I hope you get a lot of use out of the cleaver!

Just a time-lapse from this afternoon. This bbq slicing knife is coming along just fine. It is made out of CPM S90v ( a very hard stainless steel that has amazing edge retention properties) and is going to be slicing for many, MANY years to come. The thin, long, and narrow blade will be perfect for cutting that competition BBQ you work so hard to perfect. Thanks Cynthia Cruz-garcia for the order! I hope you will enjoy using this knife as much as I do making it.

Did some testing tonight of how well the edge on these Damascus blades would hold up under serious abuse. I’m hammering a 5/8ā€ steel plate. The only damage sustained was a scratch on the mirror polish šŸ‘šŸ».

Some simple 1095 high carbon steel knives I recently worked on. This was immediately after quenching in oil. The blades are black due to a process called decarburization. Decarb happens because of Carbon atoms leaching through the thin surface layer of the metal during the heat-treatment process of the blades. You'll notice the color resembles charcoal briquettes because both are essentially carbon.

One of the most interesting stages during the knife-making process is the cryogenic treatment stage. By dipping the blade into liquid nitrogen (-320F) for an extended amount of time, the blade's overall hardness will increase which leads to better wear resistance - the blade takes longer to dull.

Cryogenic treatment is very beneficial to stainless steels and/or powder metallurgical steels but not for simple high carbon steels.

Created and tested some CPM S90V stainless steel fillet knives. S90V is a great stainless steel that holds a VERY keen edge with exceptional wear resistance - it wont dull easily. The handle material mimics the natural beauty of Rainbow Trout, and Steelhead Trout. These knives are essential for all anglers and will last a lifetime!

A few examples of Damascus hunting knives i've made over the years. The Damascus I make is comprised of two steels; 15N20 and 1095 spring steel. Damascus knives are coveted because of their interesting blade steel patterns and designs, but don't forget to oil after using because they WILL rust!

Damascus hunters start @ $85 - $150

Thanks Dustin de la Garza for the picture!

Texas skinner knives from my "The Field Dresser" line of knives. The knife steel used is produced by Bohler-Uddenholm, ELMAX steel. It is a high chromium-vanadium-molybdenum-alloyed steel, made of 1.7 percent carbon, 18 percent chromium, .3 percent manganese, 1 percent molybdenum, .8 percent silicon, and 3 percent vanadium. This composition allows for the metal to have a high wear resistance, high compressive strength, superior corrosion resistance, and a very good dimensional stability.
Custom Handles in a variety of colors/combinations come standard.

Feel free to message me for pricing and options.
