Tonight I close a chapter in my life that I will never regret. Although this race for Maverick County District Clerk did not end in my favor, my heart is still full because I know the reason I chose to run came from a place of purpose.
I ran because I love what I do. I ran because I believe in serving the people of Maverick County. And I ran because I believed I could make a difference.
While the outcome was not what we hoped for, I am not discouraged by the loss itself. What truly saddened me during this journey was seeing how much division, gossip, and negativity surrounded this election. I will not name names, but I do encourage everyone to be careful about believing everything you read, hear, or see.
Along the way I saw friendships strained and families divided over personal interests, and that was the hardest part of this entire experience. If we are all here for one purpose — to serve the people of Maverick County — then that should always come before politics.
To my community, I want you to know that I see you and I understand why sometimes people feel discouraged about participating in elections. I still believe in our county, and I believe that one day we will get it right.
Most importantly, I trust in God’s plan. I truly believe that when God places something in your heart, it is never wasted. Every step, every conversation, every lesson from this journey had a purpose.
So while this chapter closes, my faith, my love for this community, and my passion for what I do remains unchanged.
Thank you to every single person who supported me, prayed for me, encouraged me, and believed in me. Your kindness and support meant more to me than words can ever express.
God’s plan is always greater than our own, and I trust that this is not the end of my story.
