🏀 WELCOME COACH KJ WHITE! 🏀
Gibson County High School is excited to announce the hiring of KJ White as the newest member of our Lady Pioneer Basketball coaching staff. Coach White becomes the first assistant coach hired by Head Coach Heather Jones as she begins a new era of Lady Pioneer basketball.
KJ White is a 2019 graduate of Gibson County High School. During her outstanding high school career, she helped lead the Lady Pioneers to the 2019 TSSAA State Championship while earning numerous individual honors, including 2018 Tournament MVP, 2019 Region Bank State Player of the Year, Tennessee All-Star Team selection, All-State honors, multiple All-District and All-Region selections, and four Academic All-Team recognitions. She was also a member of the 2018 Cross Country State Championship team.
White continued her athletic and academic success at Freed-Hardeman University, where she graduated in 2024 after establishing herself as one of the most accomplished players in program history. Her collegiate accolades include Mid-South Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Mid-South Champion of Character, FHU Outstanding Female Athlete, three All-Conference selections, four National Tournament appearances, and membership in the prestigious 1,000-point, 500-rebound, 300-assist, and 150-steal clubs. She also holds the school record for most games played in program history.
Following her playing career, White remained at Freed-Hardeman as an Assistant Coach during the 2024-25 season, further developing her passion for teaching and mentoring student-athletes. Last year she was a teacher and asst. Coach for Jackson Christian School.
“KJ White embodies everything we want our student-athletes to become,” said Athletic Director Michael Wickersham. “She has experienced success at the highest levels as a player, excelled in the classroom, and has already begun building an impressive coaching résumé. This is a tremendous hire by Coach Jones and our administration. KJ understands the tradition and expectations of Gibson County Lady Pioneer basketball, and we are excited to welcome her back home to help develop the next generation of Lady Pioneers.”
