🇺🇸 Today, we pause to remember.

This Memorial Day, Northeast Passage honors the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. We remember their sacrifice, reflect on the freedoms they helped protect, and hold space for the families and communities who carry their legacy forward.

We are especially grateful for the veterans and service members who are part of our NEP community—your strength, resilience, and commitment inspires our mission every day.

Join us in giving a warm Northeast Passage welcome to our new Executive Director, Lani Fortier!

Lani brings deep expertise and fresh energy to the team. Most recently, she was with the International Rescue Committee, leading global emergency response efforts—big, meaningful work that’s all about helping people when it matters most.

She’s also a former NCAA Division I athlete, so she knows firsthand the power of sport to bring people together, build confidence, and create opportunities. A value that’s at the heart of everything we do at Northeast Passage.

With a strong blend of nonprofit leadership, operational expertise, and relationship-building, along with a genuine passion for mission-driven work, Lani is well positioned to guide Northeast Passage through this leadership transition and continue expanding our impact across the community, the University, the region, and beyond.

We’re excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait for you all to get to know Lani. Welcome to the team!
