Student run, co-ed team at the University of Maine competing in various timbers ports events across

The Woodsmen’s Team is a co-ed organization dedicated to maintaining the old woods skills and competing on the intercollegiate level throughout the Northeast and Canada. This team has been a University of Maine tradition for over 40 years. Since the beginning, men and women have competed in such events as the cross-cut and bow saw, log roll, fire building, axe throw, speed chop, pulp toss and quar

ter split. These events are meant to simulate the traditional logging activities from the turn of the century.

As the semester comes to an end, we’d like to highlight the three seniors who will be leaving the team. Kat, Charlie, and Nolan have all been on the team since their freshman year, and were always incredible additions to the team. We will never forget Kat’s leadership, whether it was as president of the club or captain of the women’s team. Competitions will be much quieter next year without Charlie to fiercely cheer all of his teammates on, always reminding them to breathe. Nolan, who was our secretary for this semester, always had a story for every occasion, or a buddy who had been there and done that. It’s with a heavy heart that we have to say goodbye, but wish all of them luck with their next adventures 💙

Thank you to for hosting another amazing fall meet! Mens A took home first place overall for the second year in a row, and our women’s team took home second place! Men’s B also got first place in team log roll! Thank you to everyone who came out to cheer our lumberjacks on, and to all the teams who came out and competed.

This meet is the last college meet for two of our lumberjacks, Kat and Charlie. Both of them have had such a positive impact on the team during their time here, and we’re very sad to see them go, but happy to have them leave on such a positive note! 💙💙
