We got this Mustangs!!!
Granada Hills Charter (12-2) at San Marin οΏ½Saturday at 6:00 p.m.οΏ½οΏ½After win two straight CIF North Coast Section D5 titles the CIF moved defending 5-AA Bowl Game champion San Marin up two divisions to 4-A but the Mustangs still got the job done last week in a 29-21 victory over Menlo School but had to sweat it out a bit after bolting to a 26-0 lead before the visitors made a big comeback that fell short.οΏ½οΏ½The bad news that came out of the NorCal 4-A title-game victory is blossoming junior quarterback Dominic Ingrassia, who has passed for over 2,500 yards and 30-plus TDs suffered a broken humerus bone and will be replaced by fellow junior Jimmy Hughes. οΏ½οΏ½Hughes has seen action in several games this season and San Marin head coach Dominic DiMare is still hopeful, but knows his team will need to pick it up to replace Ingrassia.οΏ½οΏ½βJimmy has been working with the first team for most of the season,β DiMare remarked. βHe came in for the second half of last weekβs game and ran and threw the ball well.βοΏ½οΏ½βWeather is going to be a factor in Saturdayβs game,β DiMare continued. βOur key to winning is limiting the turnovers, our defense stopping their offense, and our being able to run the ball effectively.βοΏ½οΏ½Speaking of running the football, thatβs all Granada Hills does despite being the alma mater of NFL Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway. The Highlanders have rushed for 5,918 yards and 75 TDs and passed for zero yards on seven incomplete passes. Weβll see if the rainy weather slows down the Stanley brothers, senior Dijon and sophomore Darrell. Dijon is the No. 1 reported leading rusher in the state with 2,670 yards and 32 TDs while little brother Darrell has 1,294 yards and 19 touchdowns. οΏ½οΏ½San Marin can run the football as well. They have 1,885 yards and 29 TDs receiving with junior running back Charlie Singleton leading the way with around 1,200 yards and 15 TDs rushing.οΏ½οΏ½In a bit of a twist San Marin with an enrollment of around 1,100 students will be matched up with the school with the second-largest enrollment in the state. Granada Hills has around 4,700 students.
