Montana High Adventure Base

Montana High Adventure Base Montana High Adventure Base OUTDOOR. ADVENTURE. Looking for Adventure? MOHAB is the destination. Elect to take a pre-determined trek or build your own route.

Built through a relationship with the Boone and Crockett Club of North America, MOHAB (Montana High Adventure Base) provides an experience like none other in Scouting. Based out of the 6000 acre Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Ranch near Dupuyer Montana, the combined program and camping experience are both world class. TRMR Base Camp provides the backdrop for the first days of the adventure where you

will prepare for life on the trail with programs including Leave No Trace, Be Bear Aware, Lay of the Land and much more. Sharpen your skills on the rifle range or take aim with a rod for some of the best fly fishing in North America. Learn to follow the tracks from an expert, take some time to find out about the animals that you might see on the trail, or take an evening hike to see some elk grazing. Hike or shuttle to the trailhead, map and compass at the ready for the second part of the adventure. Big river to cast for some trout? A hike over the continental divide? With over 1 million acres in The Bob Marshall Wilderness area to select from, the choices are unlimited. Off the trail and back at the ranch finds you and your crew taking in some more program and some well deserved rest before a closing cookout and ceremony. Looking for adventure - you found it. Location
TRMR or The Ranch as it is affectionately called by B&C members is a 6,000 acre facility that lies in the foothills of the east slope of the Rocky Mountains near Dupuyer, Montana. The property abuts thousands of acres of national forest and wilderness areas and contains habitat for elk and mule deer. Additionally, whitetail deer, cougar, and grizzly and black bears regularly use this property and bighorn sheep and Rocky Mountain goats occur in adjacent national forest lands. High Adventure Base
The Ranch serves as the base of operations for MOHAB – MOntana High Adventure Base. Crews depart the base for pre-established treks into the Bob Marshall Wilderness, a 1,009,356 acre wilderness located in Northwestern Montana approximately 75 miles west of Great Falls. The "Bob" straddles the Continental Divide with elevations ranging from 4,000 feet along the valley floors to more than 9,000 feet at mountain summits. This vast wilderness is seven (7.34) times larger than Philmont (137,493 acres) with established wilderness trails. Trailheads to the “Bob” are within walking distance of the Ranch property. Crew Size
Due to the remoteness of the wilderness in northwestern Montana, MOHAB crew size is 12 people including adult advisors. Each crew is required to have a majority of youth participants with a maximum number of adults (over 21) is four per crew. However, the minimum number of adults (over 21) for MOHAB treks will be three (3).

Our very own Thomas Evans has been highlighted in Boys' Life magazine April edition! Check out this amazing story from when Thomas was a scout with his CA based troop pack-rafting in Montana's most premiere wilderness area. Thomas has now been on staff for two years as one of our Trek Directors and we couldn't be more proud of him!

For all you 2020 pack rafters, snow water equivalent numbers are looking 👍👍

An update...Since late September, there have been several periods of heavy snow over north central Montana. Some areas are experiencing record snowfall for the season to date. Some areas of the Rocky Mountain Front, including Cut Bank and Choteau, have had snowfall so far this season that they "normally" accumulate by mid to late March, or even April. East Glacier Park is a snowier location so it's current seasonal snowfall is what they normally expect by the end of December. Following is a chart with a few stations that have seen record, or near record snowfall for the season...so far. There are likely other locations that have received more snow, but we do not have long-term nor current records for these points.

Rivers and Streams are rising! Floods and high water now will likely mean smooth packrafting by Week 1 of MOHAB 2019.
