Our Dunwoody community mourns the loss of our beloved Coach Mike Nash. Coach Nash was the head Dunwoody HS lacrosse coach for six years from 2018-2024 and also the head football coach for 10 years. He will be missed dearly but his legacy will live on.
For those who knew Coach Nash, he loved the Dunwoody community and invested his heart and energy into our student athletes. When Dunwoody HS was in need of a new head lacrosse coach in 2018, Coach Nash stepped up. He will be the first to tell you that he knew nothing about the sport. He was a football coach and simply wanted to do what he did best - lead and motivate our students to become more than athletes, to be young men of character. Coach Nash brought his same culture of FAMILY (Forget About Me I Love You) to lacrosse. More important than his record and playoff achievements over the years - which are impressive - Nash truly built a community. He instilled camaraderie, teamwork and commitment and built the foundation our Wildcats lacrosse community thrives on today. He welcomed and encouraged new players to the sport from all backgrounds, he started an annual road-trip tradition for the boys (and Hawaiian shirts for coaches), was part of the Junior Wildcats lacrosse feeder program, and started a summer camp for our youth to learn the sport.
Six years later, Coach Nash grew his love of the game of lacrosse and an allegiance of players who he continued to stay connected with as a mentor.
When we break it down for games this upcoming season, our boys will raise their sticks with Wildcat Pride for Coach Nash.
Thank you Coach Nash for ALL YOU BUILT. Our Wildcats program would not be where it is today without you. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family, coaches, and players.
