Thunder Valley Nationals in the books. Long hot 🥵 weekend. Was blessed to have 2 entries this weekend. Lost first round in SC on a close breakout. Lost quarter finals in little blue when me & crew chief missed the dial. I killed 10 mph but still broke out. Great food with our racing families. Thanks to all of my dear racing family for your help this weekend. Was great to have Seth & Kali with us this weekend. So thankful for our great sponsors who help me get to the track!

This year marks my 32th year drag racing so you know I have to do something big. I started racing in 1994 racing motorcycles. I won a few races in NC but my favorite was at Bristol Dragway in 1996. This winter I bought back my old racing bike. The plan was to fix it up & race it. Well since the motor was bad, I had to get another bike. So 4 bikes later I have a racing bike. But let’s not talk about the 4 bikes because I’m still in the dog house over that. Anyway thanks to Mike Bos, Jerry Turner, Jason Haynes, Mike Combs, & Seth for helping me with the bike. I took it to street fights last night but the clutch tore up. So look for me out on the track this year with the bike. Don’t worry I’m still racing Top Sportsman, SC, SG and TD also. And you know I had to put sticky Mikey’s on the bike also, cause I run them on everything.

Marked another track off the bucket list this weekend. Took a trip north to nationaltrailraceway for the IHRA race. Qualified 17 out of 32 Top Sportsman. Typical Johnny Brooks fashion he lives and dies by the double 0. So he was -.003 red and dead 9 first round. Good food and good time. Came home early to attend the nsra_usa_ car show at JC. Did a little racing & car showing last weekend. Friday night took Melissa’s car to the Surgoinsville car show. On Saturday did a little heads up racing at Knoxville Dragway. Little blue girl apparently doesn’t like slowing down with the big motor. She blew the tires off every pass but 1 in qualifying. Had a good time just couldn’t get down the track. First IHRA race of the season since we missed the first due to motor. Virginia Motorsports Park was good to us this past weekend. Johnny lost in the semifinals when he got stuck under the tower and couldn’t change his dial. He knew he would be fast so he got on the brakes but a little too much. Had a great car, crew and food. Kicked off the 2026 season Knoxville Dragway for the first society race. Got the motor in on Sunday & took her to race on Saturday cause that’s how Johnny B rolls. Lost first round due to break out but was happy the motor & car doing great for no testing. Had a great crew Saturday. Congrats Bo Simpson on your win! Let's welcome Johnny Brooks to the Elite 18 team for 2026!

Johnny Brooks has been racing for 31 years, and he started racing at 16 on motorcycles He currently races Top Sportsman, Super Gas, 4.40 heads up, 4.50 heads up, 4.70 heads up, Top dragster and I also bracket race. You never know what class Johnny will end up racing each weekend. Sometimes he decides on the fly and just goes with it. Fun fact, Johnny purchased his old drag bike he had at 16 & is redoing it to race locally this year. He started out drag racing motorcycles with his childhood friend and his dad.

Johnny feels that being a part of the Elite 18 Team is a great honor; he really enjoys cheering on his teammates and seeing them doing well. Also being recognized for his accomplishments means a lot to him and helps him to do better.

Johnny feels that Right Trailers does a lot for our sport of drag racing. Michael Scott gives back to the racers and listens to their ideas. He has been with Michael for 6 years now and he appreciates all that he does for us racers and sport. The whole Scott family supports drag racing with all their kindness and encouragement.

The last race of the 2025 season was a blast. I went to Darana Motorsports Park aka Galot to race the IHRA Pro Am race. We raced the Pro Am series years ago and really enjoyed them with Seth running juniors. To say that IHRA is back is an understatement. The event was nothing short of fabulous. Everyone thanked us for being there. IHRA fed us supper two nights, each racer gets 2 bags of ice each morning by the owner of IHRA. Crew gets in with the paid racer. Bull riding, Farris wheel rides and more. I lost in the quarterfinals when I unestimated my nos set up. Thanks to everyone that helped me this weekend. I had a great crew, great car and I let them down. Thanks to all my great sponsors who help me do what i love.
