The second to last race of the PDRA season is always one of the most important. It's the race that determines whether you head into the World Finals calm, cool and collected, or spend the next few weeks with sleepless nights thinking about what's still left to accomplish.
For TFM, the PDRA Drag Wars delivered a little bit of everything, including a trip to the final round and a championship battle that will come down to the final race of the season.
In Pro Nitrous, Tommy qualified fourth with a 3.640, while Amber Denton secured the eighth position with a 3.661.
Tommy was paired with Dane Wood in the opening round. It was a great drag race, but Wood got the win light, taking the victory on a holeshot and bringing Tommy's weekend to an early end.
Amber, meanwhile, put together an incredible weekend. She marched her way through the field, picking up wins over Chris Rini, Ryan Bush and Dane Wood to earn a spot in the final round.
Waiting for her was eventual race winner Marcus Butner. Butner and Amber left the starting line within .010 seconds of one another, but when the win light came on, it was Butner's lane that was lit.
The Pro Nitrous championship will now be decided at the PDRA World Finals in a few weeks at Virginia Motorsports Park.
In Pro Street, Blake Denton qualified fourth with a 3.947 in what was an incredible final qualifying session. The entire class put on a show, and with the points battle as close as it is, every qualifying point is crucial.
Blake opened eliminations with a wire-to-wire victory over Roger Holder. Blake was off the starting line first and never looked back, posting a 3.945 to Holder's 4.027.
Blake's weekend would come to an end in the second round, however, when he turned it red by just .005 seconds against Joel Wensley Jr.
In Top Dragster 48, Ashley and Big Brown both qualified well, with Ashley grabbing the third position and Big Brown qualifying seventh.
Unfortunately, neither car would make it through the opening round. Ashley turned it red by just .003 of a second, ending her weekend early. Big Brown came to the line for his first round matchup, completed his burnout, and then suffered a mechanical failure that prevented him from taking the tree, also bringing his weekend to an early end.
Now, all eyes turn toward the PDRA World Finals at Virginia Motorsports Park in a few weeks, where championships will be decided.
Tommy and Blake remain in championship contention in their respective classes, and the entire TFM team will be heading to the finals ready to fight for world championships.
One race left. One shot at the title. Let's finish this thing.
