Original wood handle failed during final fitting (blew apart) so now we have a carbon fiber handle with brass liners and a vintage micarta frame. Going to have a multi peice 1/2 inch brass pomel/handle base to add some weight for counter balance and a bit of flash.

Three of the new designed edc's I've been working on all pretty and lined up. Front to back the first in linen micarta with black and orange g10, second with vintage canvas micarta and African blackwood, third with bone and canvas micarta. The bone and vintage micarta knives measure around a 3 1/4 in blade one the one with orange g10 is around 3 1/2in blade. And all right around 3 1/2in handles. Nice hip knives but specifically designed for appendix carry crossdraw.

Up for grabs is a new style and design that I've mashed up. A filipino Talibong with a more western style hybrid bowie style handle. The blade is w2 differentially heat treated giving it a nice hamon nothing over the top but nice and classy for a bit of flash. The guard is solid copper for a nice color pop that mates well to the stabilized maple burl handle with a vintage micarta frame that you don't even notice isn't wood if you are just walking by. The colors on this knife imo blend well and also pop to make a pretty peice. The handle is also sculpted to be comfortable and not come out of the hand and accommodates afew differnt styles of grip. The new model name for this one is the "Visayan Vaquero" the Visayan people group are the ones who most used the talibong and a Vaquero is a bandit or cowboy that originated from Mexico who usually had very unique bowie knives compared to the normal ones we see from American design.

Well I have been away from being in my shop with any consistently for nearly a year and a half or so, but I have found a way to spend time in the shop at night for an hour or so and have been steadily working on a set of knives that define my style and my design. The one in the pictures is a blade style I have loved for a long time and have wanted to make for a long time in this configuration with the handle and guard. This is a new style I am naming the Visayan Vaquero. The blade is my take on a philipino talibong forged from w2, differentially heat treated using clay to create a hamon temper line. The handle is stabilized maple burl scales with a vintage canvas micarta frame all blending and looking absolutely gorgeous and complementary together. The guard is solid copper which if you know my knives is my favorite accent material for pins and guards. The pin is going to be copper as well.

The second blade is going to be one of my tagalog Cowboys a bolo inspired blade with the new school bowie style handle with the same maple burl for the handle and a copper guard and pin sporting a hamon as well, I will have some wip pictures of that up in a day or two it's getting ready for heat treat have been letting the refractory clay get nice and dry before I go foward with it. I will have pictures of this knife pictured below either finished or close. To finished up tonight.

Once they are done I will be selling these separately, now I will not stop the same person from acquiring both, but my reasoning is as a knife community we all come together with similar and different interest and parts of different groups and different walks of life and we come together over a love of making, learing, collecting and so much more. My though is how cool would it be to sell these and have two people tied together by a bond through a knife they own that will far out live them. I will announce when and where we are planning to put these up for sale.

Have a great day all.
