STEVE MARTIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship will be awarded to someone who embodies the same qualities of our former Tournament Director, Steve Martin. Steve believed strongly in serving his community, being a team player and helping those around him.

Applications are live NOW! If you are a 2027 graduating senior and will be participating in the Sandra Meadows Classic we invite you to apply. You must be in attendance to receive this scholarship.

Applications will close October 16th at midnight.

We are so excited to announce this scholarship that will be awarded at this year's Sandra Meadow Classic. The senior selected will honor the qualities Steve Martin, our former director, embodied. We invite any 2027 senior player, manager or student trainer who will be participating in the tournament to apply. Applications will open September 7th and run through October 16th.

Sandra Meadows Classic Girls Varsity Basketball Invitational Tournament Announces New Tournament Director

Tournament date set for December 28th, 2026 to December 30, 2026

With the passing of long-time former tournament director, Steve Martin, the tournament was in need of a new director. Angie Martin Bilbrey has been selected as the new Tournament Director for the Sandra Meadows Classic Girls basketball invitational tournament.

Angie served as the interim and acting tournament director for the 2025 tournament in extremely inauspicious circumstances. Not only dealing with the illness of her father, Steve Martin, but with jumping into the tournament full tilt with a late start.

Angie comes to the tournament with a background in event planning and coordination. Having successfully produced events in the corporate world along with playing sports, that experience translated into tournament preparation.

She has already begun the selection process for this year’s tournament and is planning to bring in even bigger names from around the country.

“We already have a good name and following in Texas and in the Metroplex, but we have seen that spread throughout the Southern United States. Our goal beginning this year is to talk to those teams around the country that are basketball powerhouses.

We want to be the premier basketball holiday tournament in the nation and be the primary place college coaches come to see the best talent in the game.”

It is with great sadness that we share with you of the passing of tournament director, Steve Martin. Steve passed away peacefully Tuesday evening March 3rd. He took great joy and pride in creating the best possible tournament for girls basketball and the opportunity for young ladies to continue their education and athletics beyond their high school career. As he would say, “the show must go on” and we will continue to honor his legacy and make this the best girls basketball tournament in the nation!
