Yesterday, the cross country teams competed in the Mid-Penn Championships.
The boys team finished fifth overall in the team competition, missing qualifying for districts as a team by one place. Despite that, five boys qualified as individuals for the PIAA District III Championships to be held at Big Spring High School on Saturday, October 30:
• Michael Singley, senior (16:54; 17th overall in A, AA, and AAA; 3rd overall AA)
• Eric Carmo, sophomore (19:09; 100th overall in A, AA, and AAA; 21st overall in AA; course PR)
• Ryan Ciccocioppo, freshman (19:51; 123rd overall in A, AA, and AAA; 28th overall in AA; PR)
• Iyasen Fleisher, sophomore (20:36; 155th overall in A, AA, and AAA; 40th overall in AA; PR)
• Joel Smith, junior (20:40; 157th overall in A, AA, and AAA; 41st overall in AA; PR)
So, even though we are not officially sending a team, we are still sending a team to districts!
Three other athletes also competed in the varsity race, running phenomenally well.
• Colton Albright, freshman (21:32; 178th overall in A, AA, and AAA; 52st overall in AA, first race since 9/28)
• Dawson Engle, freshman (21:38; 181st overall in A, AA, and AAA; 54rd overall in AA)
• James Dell, junior (23:11; 202nd overall in A, AA, and AAA; 63rd overall in AA, season PR)
Two other athletes ran in the 2021 Tim Cook Memorial 5K, and the skies opened up just in time for the race! Despite downpours, both boys ran huge PRs.
• Seth Toth, freshman (24:44, 130th overall, lifetime PR by 18 seconds)
• Daniel Ortiz, junior (24:45, 132nd overall, season PR by 2:13)
The girls also ran at the Mid-Penn Championships. However, as their team is classified as A (small schools), not AA like the boys, they automatically qualify for the PIAA District III Championships.
• Rachel Singley, freshman (24:27; 104th overall in A, AA, and AAA; 1st overall in A)
• Aubrey Richards, freshman (25:02; 110th overall in A, AA, and AAA; 3rd overall in A, season PR)
Congratulations to all of our district qualifiers, and well-done to all on your amazing performances! You have made us all Susquenita Proud!
